Description
Combining action and strategy in a unique way, Sang-Froid: Tales of Werewolves transports you into an epic folktale co-written with best-selling Canadian author Bryan Perro (Amos Daragon, Wariwulf), in which two feuding brothers will have to put aside their differences to save their sister, who is pursued by the Devil himself!

This time however, sheer brute strength won't be enough to save the day as your enemies are way stronger than you are. Only your wits and the ability to combine ingenious traps to setup deadly ambushes will give you a chance to see the sun rise again on your frozen piece of forest...
  • Immerse yourself in 19th century Canada where legends meet History in a world filled with lore and wonders. Buy historical weapons and items, fight mythical beasts and uncover the truth about werewolves…
  • Choose one of the two O'Carroll brothers and develop your character using a skill system based on role-playing games (RPGs), making your hero as unique as he is powerful!
  • All the mechanics of the game revolve around the innovative concept of Fear Factor, which makes your ability to intimidate your enemy your best weapon.

Superb Execution w/ Zero Fun Factor

In short, the the story-telling works, though the actual gameplay is uninspired, 3rd-person challenge, 1980s-era-bland missions that are basically tower defense except you have to kill everything by hand and on foot. It is a hack-and-slash with all of the genre weaknesses without any sense of progress. Even the strongest part i.e. the story can be summarized with "kill wolves until the plot lady is cured." What a hollow experience. Not recommended. If you get an error about failed disk write / access, enable the "run as admin" function. The Loading screen lasts a long time even when it works, no need to worry about it. To be honest, I would rather have a game about felling trees than this one. It felt like a stressful project at times. That might explain the lack of fun factor. Even the ending is super stale.

Interesting but Very Flawed

It's an interesting take on the new style tower defense game where your character runs around and fights during the waves. Innovative in that it's interactive and more on the character than the "towers". Unfortunately you quickly fall victim to game mechanic flaws. In the initial tutorial a net kills anything under it, but then suddenly in the very next night it does not kill anything. Having assumed things worked as you were taught, you failed to plan for things to survive the traps. Ok, try again. This time you find the indicator for the net doesn't work and you get attacked and didn't see it coming because you have to be staring up at the net that betrayed you. Also, suddenly you're attacked more, take more damage, enemies violate the "next" indicator... It went from "ok cool, this is pretty fun" during the tutorial to "wtf this is impossible and nothing works" instantly. Very odd, highly disapointing. If they fix the problems it could be 4-5 star probably. Free or not, unplayable is what it is.

Unique Play With Good Atmosphere

I am happy to have found this unique gem. My main complaint so far has been its rapid change by introducing something new every mission. It is a lot to take in, but there is good instruction. A nother area that might not be failer is the skill tree. There is a lot of options but some seem like dead end for strategy.

Not for me

I tried twice but just can't get into this. The dialogue and voice acting is terrible. I don't want to play as a forest-destroying and wildlife-killing lumberjack. The tutorials ignore the keys you've redefined. Not for me. It seemed slow and clunky, with nothing much to pull me in.
