They've licked their wound, improved their techniques, and now they're back! The world's 15 fiercest warriors clang steel in a fast and furious fest of fencing festivties. Use new characters and new feints of Fury to hack, slice, dice and Julien fry your way to victory.

This is a fighting game released in 1994 that follows 15 samurais in their individual quests. The rage system, which was popular in the first game, has been further enhanced. Not only does attack power rise when the gauge is full, the player can also use a special technique that can break the opponent's weapon and force the opponent to fight unarmed. The game also allows for more movement techniques such as back-stepping, rushing forward, and ducking, allowing for even more strategies. A fun and important detail of this game is that one of the new characters, Cham Cham, was voiced by voice actress Reiko Chiba, who is an idol in the gaming community.

Brilliant game, incompetent release

Just bought the SNK fighting game bundle, and I already regret it. As you would imagine, this is not a true port, but basically emulation. Nothing's wrong with that, that means it brings you closer to the original, arcade experience, right? Well it all depends on the emulator. Which, in this case: sucks. It's bare bones: you don't have any graphic filters and you cannot even customize your control layout. I don't know what rock SNK is living under, but especially the latter one is just unacceptable at this day and age. The only feature of the frontend which I haven't seen before with NeoGeo emulators is a save feature. You have one whole slot. Wow. Why even bother (It's maybe just me, but I also felt like there's a little delay with the keypresses). Look, when pirating a rom and playing it with a FREE emulator is not only cheaper, but also an all-around better gaming experience than the legal version... thenwe have a very serious problem. I did buy this for less than two bucks, yet (for the first time after buying nearly 700 games from gog ) I'm thinking about asking for a refund.

Horrible port or a great game

Great game, absalutely terrible port. - Absalutely no control options, none. You're control pad not configured properly? Well, too bad. Enjoy not playing it. - No graphic options like filters or resolution - Very long and unskippable start up credits outside of the game itself I bought this, it's a great game. But the sad fact is, "other means" of playing are far superior. And it shouldn't be that way, it smacks of lazyness.

Idiot Pirates Are Illiterate

Let’s make this clear. Yes, the emulator packages in this release is garbage. Yes, GOG should probably have higher standards then this. What the pirates in the comments are missing is quite simple. This game is just an emulator and rom bundled together in a file. If you prodded at the game for five seconds you would realize you could just copy the rom out of the file and into a better emulator. Thanks to this release, I can legally play this amazing game without visiting some shady rom website. Learn something about the amazing emulators you play your illicit media on.

Fun, but Linux version runs too fast

When playing the native Linux version of this game, it ran way too fast and I had to take some extra steps to get it to run normally. Here's what I did on an Ubuntu 19.10 machine: Installed libstrangle at the system level (had to build from source at https://gitlab.com/torkel104/libstrangle) and after modifying the start.sh for Samurai Shodown 2, I was able to get the game speed running correctly at 60 FPS in two different ways: 1. Replace the existing ./"SamuraiShodown2" command with strangle 60 ./"SamuraiShodown2" 2. Add these lines to the file: export FPS=60 LD_PRELOAD="libstrangle.so:${LD_PRELOAD}" ./"SamuraiShodown2" Note: I installed libstrangle at the system level as this was helpful for other SNK Linux ports that had this speed issue like NEO TURF MASTERS.

Meh release, but some cool bonuses

Look, I’m not going to lie, I’m not too keen on this release being put within the confines of a limited emulator that doesn’t offer much in terms of customization. HOWEVER, you can literally use the ROM (along with the other Neo-Geo releases) and use it on other emulators. That alone makes getting these games worth it as you can still play them, and you didn’t have to go to some sketchy website that attempts to shove malware down your throat. And you don’t have to much money to get it! This is a safer (and LEGAL) alternative and you get to own this game DRM free. More wins than losses when you think it that way, friends. As for the game itself, Samurai Shodown II is one of those old school SNK fighting games that will pull some of the same quarter munching shenanigans you’d come to expect from this developer back in the day. Couple that with beautiful pixel artwork, amazing aesthetics and character design, intense 1v1 weapon action and a good time to have with friends! I just wish there was an online component, but that can be fixed using Fightcade, once you can get that set up using the ROM you’ve legally bought.
