Great game and works very well with other people on a LAN. The only problem we ran into is that we had to change the connection speed in the game to ISDN or it gave us an error but that didn't seem to affect the game play at all -- I would assume it's due to the newer operating systems.
Very big, open-world to explore. Unlike most action RPG's this one doesn't put up stupid walls restricting your character... everything in the world makes sense.
Sacred Gold is an open world. You can just go anywhere and do what you want. In each place, there may be people who give you a mission, and you can do it and get rewards. But if you don't want, you can just do what you please and wander everywhere and get treasures, kill monsters, and discover places.
It's very fun because of that. You don't have to follow a boring dialog, a long story, or anything. If you want to, you can too. But you are not forced to do it.
The game is also so intuitive, that if you have some experience, you can just play it, and usually everything is easy to use.
This is the perfect game for people whose life is not devoted to play a game, or for the person who plays different games often. This is something not usual today, and you will enjoy it very much.
First time playing this gem (2025) and It is a good and fun game. Simple Diablo-like game, beautiful graphics, interisting to explore and to open the map.
It has some silly jokes but they are not distracting.
5h playing it and so far so good.
The bad thing is that we almost don't get any background music.
I bought this game on a whim, hoping I'd bought something worthwhile. Boy, was I rewarded! There is a story there, but you can ignore it for the most part. You do need to complete the quests if you want to easily get your spells and abilities. But once you reach a certain point, you can just run around kill everything (depending on you class). The first character I created was a Battlemage. While starting off fairly weak, they become near unstoppable badasses in time. This game is a great game to satisfy your Diablo 2 cravings if you can't afford the battlechest, and a great thing to play even after getting Diablo 2.
I enjoy the class variety, even though I could never really find one beside the Battlemage that I truly enjoyed. But, of all the classes there is alot of great choices for all play styles. And the loot system is very similar to Diablo 2. The only thing that this game could improve on is the stats and attributes screen. It's kind of weird to use when you're starting off.
I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys pure hack-n-slash and loot collecting.
I personally got into the Sacred universe through a 360 copy of Sacred 2, and it quickly rose to be one of my all-time favorite games, and Ancaria was one of my top 5 video game worlds (vast, varied, beautiful, and nearly limitless secrets to discover). I picked this up during one of GOG's sales, and I have to say...I wasn't disappointed in the least.
Sacred Gold takes all the best elements of other hack n' slash RPGs and adds tidbits that others don't have that simply make it better. Different storyline objectives based on the character you pick? Check. Humor? Check. An unbelievably massive world? Yep, it has that, too. Sacred Gold is the perfect hack n' slash for people who love exploring...the developers clearly adored working on this world, as secrets, hidden paths, and hidden treasures are awaiting those explorers like me who love searching for them.
I can't stress enough--this game is a top tier in its genre, and one not to be passed up. This game has potentially hundreds of hours to be had in enjoyment for those of us who love to lose ourselves in another world as deeply cared for by its developers as it is richly detailed. If you don't have this, buy it. Otherwise, you'll be missing out.
