RoboCop: Rogue City is a pitch-perfect throwback to the action movies of the ‘80s. It’s over-the-top violence with charm, largely well put together but rough on the edges. Most importantly, it's a fun way to spend time in a beloved fictional universe that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Blasting at goons as an unstoppable walking machine remains as extremely entertaining as it seemed on the big screen, thanks in part to an impressive commitment to capturing the look and feel of the original film. Mixing in elements like routine police work and side quests does a great job changing the pace, too. Even if it’s not the best example of visual fidelity, and prone to some bugs along the way, that love of RoboCop shines through. This is a solid B movie of a video game, which is exactly what the source material demands.

RoboCop: Rogue City is a methodical shooter that makes you feel like Old Detroit's greatest crime fighter, but it errs when its devotion to authenticity wanes.

Even if Rogue City had started to rust a little towards the end of its lengthy campaign, its surprisingly in-depth shooting and roleplaying mechanics, love of the source material, and keen understanding of what makes RoboCop so great in the first place has made it one of the biggest surprises of 2023 for me. In a year full of absolute bangers, make sure you spend some time in Detroit.

More bang for your buck

My review for the base game you can find here https://www.gog.com/en/game/robocop_rogue_city This pack costs (undiscounted) 10 € more than the base game and gives you DLCs which are sold separately for 20€. So if you are interested in some skins, a weapon and an artbook, this is for you. The skins are a nice to have, but not really necessary. You can choose between the classic RoboCop 1 look, the blueish RoboCop 2 look or the damaged look from the first movie. While the latter one looks nice, it does not feel right to play the story with it. The weapon skins don't make much of a difference at all. Go for black, if you like, or don't. The additional weapon gives you a small bonus when the level begins since usually you start without a second weapon. Once you swap it for a different gun however, that bonus is gone and later in the game the Auto-9 can easily become your weapon of choice in all situations anyway.

Play the Verhoeven way.

Graphics, sound, spirit... For the fans, the nostalgia is at full power ! It is Robocop, 110% loaded. For the rookies of the license who lack the mandatory culture of the 80's cult movies, this game asks a simple question : is it possible today to make a good FPS well optimized and with super graphics which lacks the nervous speed and guts of a Doom eternal without being boring ? Answer is YES. Various gameplay for various situations, a cool story, a super immersion... Playing Robocop is a pleasure that gamers and fans long waited, that worths every second of it. (for the record, i'm playing on a Asus Rog Ally, 1080p, with almost every thing maxed (textures, lights effects and textures and even more, no bugs, no FPS drops. INSANE....) Thank you Nacon !! Thank you so much.

Woohoo!

Awesome game! I was told by a Nacon rep back in October that they were "in talks with GOG" over a release here, so I held fire on the purchase, as I'd prefer it on GOG. The day finally came! Great game, the guns feel satisfying, graphics look really good - so far I'm deffo enjoying it, even if there's some "not quite AAA" levels of jank, this being a "AA" game. That being said - would have been nice to have native HDR, but I had to get by with enabling HDR through UE5 engine ini tweaks.

Best RoboCop Game!

I absolutely love the RoboCop movies. Mixed feelings about #2. The shows absolutely are cheesy terrible once youve seen the movies. I have RoboCop Rogue City on Steam. RoboCop Rogue City is a true to the source successor to RoboCop 1 & 2. Its done in a similar style as Terminator Resistance (also same developers) staying true to T1 & T2. Plenty of references to their shared movies. Honestly its the best RoboCop game since, well the old 16-bit and arcade days. There is some issues with it, which i will put at the bottom. - Story is fantastic, keeps the late 80's to early 90's era vibe. - Gameplay is about as spot on as it could be playing an essentially humanoid bi-pedal tank. RoboCop moves slow, so keep that in mind. - The weapons are more than useful, though most you probably wont use other than to try them out. The Auto-9 is your best weapon. - CSI & Puzzles are a core piece of the gameplay to drive your choices, which do affect the type of ending you get. Now for the trouble... ** 15fps bug you need to change in the NVidia Control Panel 3D Application settings for RoboCop Vertical VSync and setting that to "Use the 3D Application Setting" **White TV/Monitor screens. I have NVidia so I will need to go to the NVidia Control Panel under the Profile for Robocop.exe - Image Scaling = OFF - Anisotropic Filtering = Application Controlled (Not the Global Option) - Antialiasing Gamma Correction = ON (Not Global) - Antialiasing Transparency = OFF (Not global) - Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Sample Optimization = OFF - Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias = CLAMP - Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization = ON - Vertical Sync = Use the 3D Application Setting - Virtual Reality Pre-Rendered Frames = Use the 3D Application Setting (not sure why but likely has to do with Unreal 5 and DX12) **There is a terrible bug that causes the Head Camera to get stuck after opneing doors, crates and specific scenes. No known fix yet.

Like playing the Robocop 4 movie.

Starting off, It's buggy as can be. Crashes if you play too long, crashes if you explode too many things at once. Crashes if you launch the game when Mercury is in retrograde. That's what is keeping this game from getting a full 5/5. Oh, and the accidental body horror from character models not working right and it looking like people have their gums sewn into their teeth. The obvious bad out of the way, From the art, to the voice acting, to story writing, this game is filled with the essence of Robocop. The game mechanics are right in line with how Alex would fight, as if he were wearing a costume that was way too tight to move around in. But you will feel like a tank at times. Skills build meaningfully but without pressure to "get it right" and the weapon modding system is robust enough to let you own your build but is dead simple so you don't have to spend time on it. While this isn't a big AAA title that is supposed to blow the socks off anyone who plays it, if you enjoyed the movies and like first person shooters, this game is right for you (if you can play it).
