When a game serves a story

What to say but "Excellent"? Richard & Alice is a basic point-and-click game. Basic graphics, basic music, not a lot of colors to see and get distracted, just atmosphere. And that's the beauty of it. It's one of those exceptions where a game complements a story, and not otherwise. The way every thing is presented rolls smoothly in one of the most sentimental stories I've had the chance to read or play. Highly recommended

Simple, but profound.

You might be hesitating to buy this game because of its "simple" visual. Yes, it might be little dry and maybe looks like an old Japanese RPG games. Honestly, I was the one who thought like that. Once you start playing, you might find out that this simple visual really helps making atmosphere in the game decent. You can't stop following the story presented by this game for sure. Experience the madness, fear, and kindness in the doomed world covered by the massive snow.

Great Piece of Interactive Fiction

This is a beautifully written story put to perfect music. This is not an adventure game in the vein of the old Sierra games (despite how it appears graphically), but more in the vein of more modern approaches to the medium in that it is more "interactive fiction". The puzzle solving is minimal and put aside in favor of a strong story that you experience along with the characters. Developed in Adventure Game Maker, so the tech is a little weak, but the developer does the most he can with the tools and the results are a memorable tale that is a joy to experience.

Amazing

This was an amazing story! I don't understand why people aren't giving this 5 stars. Any game that can actually make me cry is worth my money. Buy it.

A snack of a game

This is a short adventure game that can be completed in one sitting. The art isn't bad, and the atmosphere is believable. What is troublesome, however, is that the game lifts many of its motifs from McCarthy's "The Road", including the annoying little kid, only the conversations in this game are more infantile. The puzzles are very simple, but some require a lot of backtracking, and the game forces you to re-examine hotspots because they yield new items as the plot progresses. The story is certainly intriguing, although the twist at the end could have been executed better. Still, the developers show much promise (I liked how they handled the subtle triggers that affect multiple endings), they could probably do a very good game with a better budget and a bit of feedback. As a story, this title works well enough, but not so much as a game.
