I can't believe how much I’m enjoying this game. All the appeal of the original and plenty more. Trying to describe it as ‘similar to this or that' other game is difficult, it's simpler to just say: you will need to shoot at things, there are mysteries to solve, new worlds to explore, cool gadgets to acquire, and the artwork (locations, fauna and creatures) are all so visually appealing that each new location is a real treat to discover.
I do have a suggestion for the developers: please make a free demo or something so more people try this game out. I got the first game as a free gift. I would never have played it otherwise, I had no idea it was ‘my kind of game’. If I hadn't been given the first game, but instead I’d downloaded a free demo of it (a demo big enough to properly get into it) I’d have purchased the full game straight away.
Everything is annoyingly less clear and blurry no matter how the settings are changed. The tv screan videos are worse quality like they are low res upscaled videos with what looks like horrible ai created distortions. The original game had zero blur and and nice clear tv screan videos. The game alo appears to be quite short.
Three stars off because you have to log into GoG if you want to access the DLC, at least that's what I encountered in this game!
The game itself is just as good as those other reviews describe, the music, art direction, humour and cheeky bit about the proper pronunciation of aluminium make this game a keeper, but mandating that the user log into their account, *just* to play the DLC that they already paid for is unacceptable!
UPDATE: "In-Game content locked behind "Cosmic Hoarder" Edition" <= Title from another videogame shop's forums...
While writing this, I read that there is in-game content locked for those who just bought the base game, so until you purchase either the special edition or its DLC, you'll be locked out. It's too bad, as the game is a solid five-star!
Unfortunately, I'm going to get a refund in spite of this game being a keeper, but paywalled in-game content is a deal-breaker for me!
