Still remember that my Pentium 4 had struggle running this in high-res back in my college years because of those stunning "Dynamic Light" that made the torch light waving (remember that this was 2001 when the first Half-Life is still a Hot Cake). Now run it again with AMD Ryzen 6000 Series, finally I can crank all the Graphical setting all the way to the right.
What a happy day. :)

Well what can I say. A game that defined a generation of first person shooters. The impact is still felt 17 years later as the story continues with the sequels for PC and consoles.
Besides a great story-line that appeals to most young people, this game has a multi-player module that was very innovative and unique for the time.
This is the best game in the Wolfenstein series. Great gameplay, great levels, nice plot including mix of warfare and occultism. New Wolf games are good, but RTCW was the best, and still is. Must have!
Ever since I played Wolfenstein: The New Order, I started to play other installments in the franchise, like The Old Blood and The New Colossus. But recently, I finished beating Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Coming from someone that has never played this game before, I enjoyed it despite some flaws.
What I liked about this game was that the story did keep me interested in seeing what would happen, since the other installments have been known for Nazis doing all kinds of crazy stuff to win the war via dark magic or robotic soldiers.
The gameplay was also good, and I enjoyed using the weapons used in the game, including the one where you shoot electricity to fry your enemies. It's also pretty cool coming across some secret areas and discovering hidden treasure.
While the character models do look weird, they're not too awful, and the animation for them, when they move around, is good. Also, I love how diverse the levels would be because you'll end up in areas ranging from a castle to a temple.
One more thing that did annoy me about this installment of the Wolfenstein franchise and I know this will sound more like a nitpick, but I have to say it: To play it, you have to download a mod to play it, and it took me about a year to install it correctly. I wish this didn't happen, but sadly, there was nothing I could do except download the mod and do it correctly.
Overall, while this game did have some flaws that annoyed me, I still enjoyed it for what it was, and if you want to play any of the older Wolfenstein installments, this one is worth your time and money.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein has a good enough story, good shooting mechanics with a decent variety of weapons, and nicely paced gameplay. The game really rewards you for thinking about how you will deal with each time you encounter enemies. Don't get me wrong, it may not be one of the most strategic shooters out there, but it strikes a nice balance between letting you be slow and methodical while also rewarding mechanical skill. The game has a few stealthy sections that keep it from getting too monotonous as well. It's definitely one of my favorite shooters overall.
