Yeah well...

Okay, I like adventures that have aged but this game is rather boring. If you have nag for oldtimers and the phantom of the opera you might give it a go just for the atmposhere. But thats just about it. The gameplay is outright dull, riddles nonexistent, besides in the latter game. But that can be managed with diligence rather than wit. Does it have its moments? a bit. Does it shine like the more famous adventures of its time? Certainly not. So dont expect a monkey island or gabriel knight.

Amusing and short

It's a cute and short game. It clearly tries to pad its length with the maze everyone complains about (I agree you should just look up the path to take, there is no hint in game as to what to do). If you like the novel and want a silly follow-up, it'll only take 2 hours of your time.

The wall of cheese

I played this when I was a kid in the 90s. Well, this hasn't aged well :) The atmosphere is still here but the game is dreadful to be honest. You just walk around and collect things which you pretty much rarely use for anything since there's no puzzles to solve almost at all. The voice acting is a next level of awful. To paraphrase the game "My lady, the conversations are most dreadful I might say". The graphics are actually incredible for the time it was released. A true technical feat. I would suggest this if you can play it "ironically". In any other case, avoid - unless you're really nostalgic.

Return of the Phantom

A nice tribute to Gaston Leroux's novel. It is a point-and-click adventure with a good story and interesting puzzles. Good job.

Good, not best

This is one of MicroProse's quests. Dragonsphere was the absolute undefeated best. This? Close second.
