Beautiful disaster.
Ah, the story: Humanity nearly killed the Earth and all focus has turned to living in harmony with nature, restoring it to peace and beauty. Your character will journey into the wilderness ready to become one with our natural world. Peace, meditation, harmony. The actual story: Humanity nearly killed the Earth and Mother Earth holds a grudge. Everything is attempting to kill you: the water (parasites), the air (diseased mosquitos), and the land (spider and snake bites). Food is scarce. Your immune system can't fend off anything thrown at it. Night time is dark, far darker than whatever you just pictured; like Doom 3 dark. You. Will. DIE.... peace and harmony.... with your death. So, I suspect the makers were trying to do some hippy stuff, but I only want a flamethrower now. If Earth didn't want to lose, it shouldn't have made apex predators that could kill it. Anyway, the game is beautiful. I really enjoy how it looks. The game play is wildly brutal in that slooooow death kind of way, where you spend your last breath trying to find the right flower for antivenom. Getting lost is practically guaranteed. Stepping on a snake is too. Peace and relaxation is nowhere to be found here. There is no tutorial. I read somewhere there is a crude, children's watercolor, map but I don't seem to have one. Thus far, I've found a banana and some kinda star fruit then died of hunger. Another other time, a mosquito the size of my fist poked me and I died slowly over thirty minutes looking for curing flowers. I can't make a spear or trap for lack of materials. I can't catch that iguana with my hands (and it's probably somehow a poisonous iguana anyway). Somebody posted that there are oysters in the ocean, but I didn't find any. Somebody else said beware of deadly jellyfish in the ocean. Thankfully, I didn't find those either. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to survive. No guides. No help. No hints. No basic home base to recharge food/water/rest. No nothing. Not even subtitles, believe it or not. Just a jungle and repeated death. This game is not fun. You're not run-and-gunning. No "play fast, die hard". There's no city building, if that's what you're here for -- at least not that I can reach. Even if I could build a base, the land is so dense with plants and huge rocks, I'd likely get lost in the maze and never make it back. This only offers slow, agonizing failure as you watch your various life meters tick away and have nothing to stop it. Maybe they'll put in a sandbox mode or something, but as of this writing, there isn't one. Skip this one. It's just raw stress disguised as a game.
