Almost Definitive
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis needs no introduction at this point, i think. Classic tank-control survival-horror at it's best. I've bought this mostly out of nostalgia, so this review only goes over technical stuff. So far i've done 1 playthrough unmodded with the latest version provided by GOG as of writing of this post and had no issues running or playing the game. At least on Windows 10. Both my XBOX and DS4 got recognized and with no stability issues or audio visual glitches as far as i could tell. On Linux through Heroic+Proton-GE though, i was unable to re-bind my controller and had to resort to making it act like a keyboard&mouse as a workaround. I've also done a 2nd playthrough trying out the "Unofficial SourceNext 1.1.0 conversion patch for RE3" with "Resident Evil 3 Classic REbirth" and i honestly don't know why the game does not ship with this version or at least with the option to launch the (mostly) original 2000 or the 2006 re-release by SourceNext. The SourceNext version has much higher res FMV cutscenes, slightly cleaner audio and higher res visuals overall and no graphic's wobble. It also allows you choose between the "Classic" JP version and "Arrange" NA/EU versions, like with the Dreamcast version. "Arrange Mode" is what we've got in the west and is generally regarded as slightly harder (the titular Nemesis has a tad more HP, for example). With "Resident Evil 3 Classic REbirth" applied, you also get some extra options and QoL, like a hotkey to toggle on/off graphic's wobble back as well as a pixelation effect, faithfully re-creating the PS1 look. The only minor downside is, that there is no way to map 2 actions to 1 controller button and with direct-input, rumble doesn't work. it can be worked around with controller software, though, like x360ce or DS4Windows, depending on your type of controller. At this point, i'm just nitpicking. So yeah, the GOG version works great, but i highly recommend giving the SoureNext patch and Classic REbirth a try!
