Fantastic sequel, serviceable port that:
Could have been perfect but first let me say this port is a very good way to play it if you want just to boot it, grab a controller and get playing. You can skip door animations, like RE1. After two runs (Claire A - Leon B), yep, issues were non-existent in-game and this videogame doesn't need presentation at this point. But there is something it annoys me a little, it's the quality of the CG cutscenes...seems a little off and I find out that this port has (with the obvious exception of Nintendo 64 port) the worst CG cutscenes, even worse than the original port GoG has been working from (1999 Plantium) which is a dissapoinment, specially considering that there is two ports of PC: The Platinum version which had issues in 99 like crashes, missing music, stuff like that. Sourcenext version is exclusive for Japan, it's a port from 2006 that has better resolution for the backgrounds, has the BEST CG from any version (almost no compression at all) and fixed some of the issues Platinum had... That makes me wonder why GoG choose to work on Platinum instead of Sourcenext or even just use these cutscenes... There is another thing I don't really like from PC version and how auto-aim in Original mode is missing (you could choose it in alternative controls at least on consoles). With normal enemies it's not a big deal but with bosses it's a pain in the ass because there is no quick turn (not introduced until RE3) and auto aim made felt these fight like it should. Now there is a strange thing (playing in Arrange) and I don't think it's related to the port but it's worth mentioning, the pick up/select sound in the inventory sometimes didn't sound good (like I could cut the sound [only the end of it] if I mashed the button) which seems off because seems to only happen in Arrange, not Original. After that little rant of mine, I yep, this is worth buying 27 years later.
