finally we can play it as it was !!
the game is the same version for usa, from the 1997 you can bind the controller with no problem and the music and videos are there, also the videos are the uncut version, so expecto to watch more gore than the psx version. this is not the directors cut version that was exclusive for psx, that version had some new camera angles views, some new outfits , enemies altered locations, and horrbile music. is not a remaster so the game looks pixelated , this make the background look pretty bad , but you can apply the seamless hd project to fix this, among another mods, like higher poly characters, from the deadly silence version, from the ds console, and tons of others things. or simply start the game and enjoy!. some minor bugs hope they fix it i recomend

Enter The Survival Horror
Thanks Capcom, took you long enough to rerelease RE 1-3 since the PSN releases, better late than never, I suppose. You should patch and rerelease Dino Crisis 1 and 2 and Breath of Fire IV, since those already have PC ports. It would also be neat if you could port the DS version of RE1 (the best version of non-remake RE1) to PC, since mouse would emulate the touch screen controls just fine. As for RE1 itself, you explore, solve puzzles, gather key items and unlock doors, shoot, tiptoe around zombies early game until the game dumps a mountain of ammo on you mid game, make Jill sandwiches to go with your V-Jolt apple juice, and then you give Wesker a Tyrant wedgie before signaling Brad to come back from his trip to Mcdonalds on the other side of the Earth in China. It's one of the first games of it's kind (survival horror) and one of the first to do it right. There are a couple of things that aged like milk, like the insane amounts of I-Frames that enemies get during certain animations (the DS version STILL didn't fix this), and how comically useless the knife is unless you're a ninja, but other than that, it aged surprisingly well in most areas.

A surprising gift but thank you!
I have always wanted to play the original Resident Evil games, and so when I saw it added to GOG it was an easy purchase! The game plays great and I am surprised at how well it handles! The game has a charm to it that I completely love and it is nice to have these added to my library alongside all the other Resident Evil games I own. As far as issues with the game go, I have an issue where if my controller disconnects during gameplay it won't be detected again unless I close and reopen the program. The PC controls feel fine but I prefer playing on controller whenever possible. I hope this can be an easy fix in a patch, because otherwise I don't have many complaints with this port. The added polish and QoL Features make it probably the best way to play the game. If you are a fan of resident evil or just a fan of capcom in general, I would say buy it. I want to see more of their classic games ported like this and I am already heavily anticipating RE2 and RE3 when they are released!

Simply fantastic
The original resident evil shows its age in some ways, but it is STILL a great experience even now. This release includes only minor tweaks compared to the original, minimising frustrating elements while maintaining the bulk of the original port. At the moment, cut-scenes run in a choppy manner with a low frame rate, but they're still enjoyable. And they're the original uncensored scenes. The current lack of mods supporting the gog release (tho RE rebirth does reportedly work!) should be seen as temporary. This release is likely to be very popular, and a wide range of mods (despite the difficulty) are likely to follow. I think gog also presumed this will be the case, and so prioritised maintaining as much of the original as possible. Thank you gog! More like this please! (do we dare to believe that even RE games previously not released on PC may get a release here..!? Probably not, but one can dream...)
