A week from a Redneck's life:
Deer Diary:
Munday: Well, we crash-landed that UFO in the desert and Bubba says he wants to go home. Heck, I don't blame him 'cause there ain't no place like Hickston. But according to my map, we're gonna have to blast our way through jack o' lope farms and a riverboa...
Munday: Well, we crash-landed that UFO in the desert and Bubba says he wants to go home. Heck, I don't blame him 'cause there ain't no place like Hickston. But according to my map, we're gonna have to blast our way through jack o' lope farms and a riverboat as well as a brothel (Bubba can't wait) 'fore we get home again.
Toosday: Met new folks like Daisy Mae (she's purty). Bikers, pigs, cows and jack o' lopes. I think I even saw the King at the Slurp n' Burp.
Winsday: Yeehaw! Got to joyride in a Swamp Buggy and a motorcycle that were both armed to the teeth. I hope those peoples I ran over will be alrite. I still got a darn jack 'o lope stuck in the grill though.
Thersday: New ways to destroy stuff! I found over 10 weapons like a crossbow that shoots dynamite-loaded chickens and a slingblade. Mmmm-Hmm!
Fri-day: Sure am hungry! I just need some good ol' redneck powerups like pork rinds, cow pies and some of my granpappy's moonshine!
Saterday: Boy I sure so like those toe tapping tunes by that good ol' boy Mojo Nixon.
Sunday: Heck! With all the new places we been, I sure wish my kinfolk could've come along for the ride!
Want to experience more than just a week? Then take a dip into the Redneck's world of floating whiskey and widespread pork rinds. The crazy adventure continues through Redneck Rampage, Redneck Rampage Rides Again: Arkansas and Redneck Rampage: Suckin' Grits on Route 66. Now all three games bundled together.
But wait, there's more! For those curious about the Redneck language you can download and install "Cuss Pack" add-on (follow the readme.txt file for instructions).
Includes Redneck Rampage, Redneck Rampage Rides Again: Arkansas and Redneck Rampage: Suckin' Grits on Route 66
Heal your wounds with alcohol and battle aliens redneck-style!
Visit famous sites like Area 51 or Route 66 and kill those damn aliens
When I start the game up it just shows it loading everything up on a dos prompt and then shows a black screen and if i touch any of the keys it goes back to windows. Please help because I love this game and I want to get back to playing it again.
What no-one in the reviews will tell you is that RR requires you to download 3rd party software to actually play successfully. GOG were lazy on this release.
The default controls are not WASD to move, you must download 3rd party ware to change this. Others in the discussion page claim you can 'remap the keys' but none of them actually tell you how to do that...other than to direct you to an untrustworthy site and download 3rd party ware. There were no options for remapping keys in the menu, people on the discussion page claim there is...but it's not in my options, and they can't tell you why.
There is nothing on the discussion page either to help you figure this out, you either know or you don't, there is no general instruction provided on how to play the game with custom controls.
If you don't know exactly what you're getting, watch some YouTube videos or something. Because this game is so incredibly sub-standard for a new player, it will blow your mind.
The controls are keyboard only (the mouse is very rudimentary). The MUSIC BLARES so you can't even hear most of the game sound effects. And the game itself is IMPRESSIVELY BAD.
I'm used to build engine games. I love me some build engine games. I've beat Duke 3D at least 8 times by now, Shadow Warrior, and even WW2 G.I. ... GI had problems with hitscan enemies. This "game" barely passes for a Unity game someone with no game dev experience built in a week. I started on the second-to-highest difficulty, and kept dying so often I ended up down to the bottom difficulty just so I could figure out what the hell was going on.
The graphics remind me of a somehow worse controlling version of Might and Magic Mandate of Heaven. Everything is FLAT. Huge open areas with nothing in it. The Build engine was NEVER made for this kind of ugly, open terrain and it highlights every flaw the Build engine ever had. (That is, you play to your strengths when you use an engine and they did the exact opposite).
Now, for nostalgia kids, there's nothing wrong with loving this game. But as someone who never played this game (but played TONS of 90's games and Build engine games), this is bottom-of-the-barrel. This is the kind of game quality you would expect from a cereal box. Except Chex Quest is actually playable.
