Description
Out of cash, out of luck, out on the fringe. Juno Markev has a killer to tail, a debt to pay, and more trouble headed her way. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw takes place in a greasy, blue-collar world of outlaws, truckers, cops and thieves.

Strap into a variety of spacecraft, settle a score in a filthy space-bar over a game of 8-ball, rock out to over 24 hours of music, and engage in white-knuckle dogfights.

In the Dodge Sector it’s hard to get by – and even harder to get even.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is an open-world space combat adventure game, spread across the nearly 40 systems of the Dodge Sector. Play as a mercenary, a trader, a pirate, or whatever mix of the three you feel fits you best. With an engaging storyline and a full conversation system, you can follow the narrative, or ignore it and forge your own path at any time.

Engage in white-knuckle combat, and use the included Autopursuit function to effortlessly fly like an ace, instead of space-jousting for hours. Save up your credits, buy a new ship, kit it out, and then paint it in a fully-fledged 3d-painting application. Make a fortune exploiting lucrative trade routes. Join guilds, help or hunt those in distress, buy and outfit your own space station. Grab a tip in a local bar and hunt hidden treasure. In your down-time, shoot some 8-ball, play some dice-poker, or aim for the high-score in an arcade game in the local seedy watering hole. Flip through the 7 included radio stations and vast music library for just the right track to fit your current mood.

Love it!

The game became addictive to me once I understood how everything works (not that it's complicated). It has some challenging missions, especially in the beginning until you get better equipment. But the world and atmosphere are very nice, and the music is really great! The game can be played for a LOT of hours. Some people complained about grind but I didn't see it that way. You just explore, trade and fight in a well made world. To me it's definitely worth the full price and hope to have a sequel/prequel.

Good game but clunky

Definitely an improvement over the broadside only aspect but has lots to improve on. The biggest problem I'm having is navigating when the mouse cursor isn't centered on your target reticle then it pulls you in whatever direction the mouse cursor is not on center making it very difficult to fly or fight. The story element and background music gives it a sort of "old west" ambience ala firefly.

Not for everyone but I enjoyed it.

For the record, I own the game on epic, as i was pretty hyped for it having been a big fan of privateer and bought it when it as soon as it came out. Unfortunately, I think the epic release also lost it some good will, and also contributed towards it flying under a lot of peoples radars. That said, while I enjoyed it quite a lot for a time (it's a pretty good homage to the old school privateer and wing commander type games) I also thought it was a bit limited in scope. I had been hoping more content would have been added over the year it's been out but very little has changed. A few minor patches. Perhaps it's not so great reception so far is stifling further investment but maybe now it's no longer an epic exclusive it will reach a broader audience but I think a lot of PC gamers want a bit more depth yet i do think there is an audience for this that will enjoy it. I think it's a good casual space game for those new to the genre, particularly the 'earn a living in space' type genre. And if you like gaming with controllers. I've heard keyboard mouse controls are not great and i don't think that many of us are using flight sticks these days. I'm not, don't have the desk for it. But i happen to like using gamepad controllers as it comfortable and gives my old clicking fingers a break. The price is also quite cheap, even when not on sale, which contributes to my 4/5. I feel i got my moneys worth.

Man what a whiff

Here's the thing, Rebel Galaxy is one of my all time favorite games, so when I heard that they were coming out with a sequel, (or in this case prequel) I was super pumped. Then I played it... and I have to say that it was so incredibly disappointing, on so many different fronts, that I probably only played for an hour before rage quitting. Gameplay: UNLIKE its predecessor, you don't get to battle huge capital ships against legions of enemies... Fine, I could have lived with another space fighter game, but throw in buggy controls, lack luster writing, graphics that look like they're 10 years old and a main character who is so unlikable I found myself literally muting the game every time she spoke... add all that up and you get a hard pass from me. Honestly the best part of this game was the intro and cutscene cinematics (and only because of the art style used because AGAIN... unlikable MC) All in all, give it a try if you like, but if you really want my opinion, wait until it drops to under $4. Then it'd be worth it.

Scratches that space sim itch ...

RGO is a perfect game to fire up and unwind with, whether you're looking to pass the time lighting up pirates, finding the best return on soy paste, clearing out mines, or whatever else you'd like to do across the void. The in-ship tunes are also welcome. This may not be the choice if you're looking for a compelling narrative, but it's the choice when you're looking to trade, duel fighters, or enjoy some 8-ball with chill country tunes at the local spaceport.
