Out of cash, out of luck, out on the fringe. Juno Markev has a killer to tail, a debt to pay, and more trouble headed her way. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw takes place in a greasy, blue-collar world of outlaws, truckers, cops and thieves.
Strap into a variety of spacecraft, settle a score in a filthy space-bar over a game of 8-ball, rock out to over 24 hours of music, and engage in white-knuckle dogfights.
In the Dodge Sector it’s hard to get by – and even harder to get even.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is an open-world space combat adventure game, spread across the nearly 40 systems of the Dodge Sector. Play as a mercenary, a trader, a pirate, or whatever mix of the three you feel fits you best. With an engaging storyline and a full conversation system, you can follow the narrative, or ignore it and forge your own path at any time.
Engage in white-knuckle combat, and use the included Autopursuit function to effortlessly fly like an ace, instead of space-jousting for hours. Save up your credits, buy a new ship, kit it out, and then paint it in a fully-fledged 3d-painting application. Make a fortune exploiting lucrative trade routes. Join guilds, help or hunt those in distress, buy and outfit your own space station. Grab a tip in a local bar and hunt hidden treasure. In your down-time, shoot some 8-ball, play some dice-poker, or aim for the high-score in an arcade game in the local seedy watering hole. Flip through the 7 included radio stations and vast music library for just the right track to fit your current mood.
Do you wish someone took Outlaw Star/Cowboy Bepop and turned into into a crappy american scifi show, then you've gotta watch Firefly.
Do you wish someone took Outlaw Star/Cowboy Bepop into an awesome privateer/freelancer type game, Then you've gotta play Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.
Menu and controls need a litte tweaking, but they've laid out the groundwork for a great series.
The sensitivity is wayyyy too high on HOTAS and controller and it can't be changed. It's nearly impossible to aim at a target. And GOG never gave me my money back.
I don't quite understand all the negative reviews. If you don't like the game, return it. That's one reason most of my games are on GOG in the first place. Anyway.
My setup is a keyboard and mouse, I7 laptop, 6g graphics card,16 gig of ram. I don't play games online so it isn't an issue that this is a solo game. I am not a programmer and the last time I worked on a computer the 386 just came out.
Negative. The inability to save. From what I read the game is suppose save whenever you land on a station. It doesn't. It will save at odd times, like right before a battle. So if you are overwhelmed and can't win, the second to the last save could be two hours ago. Personally I don[t know why the creators of the game did it this way but that was up to them. It is their game, if you don't like it, return it. Of course you can always save the game and quit, go out to the save game folder, and copy the file. Really not that hard, a little annoying, but I like the game and it is worth it.
This isn't a negative to me but I can see where some people don't like it. You will have to do A LOT of small missions, going back and forth, shooting mines, yadda yadda. You don't get a Death Star right off. But seriously, most game are like this. You have to kill a whole lot of goblins in most fantasy games before you get the Sword of Incredible Awesomeness. I guess the creators could have had one of those levels for people who just want the story and very little battle, don't know.
Now personally, I could go for having pilot skills, being able to make up what my pilot looks like, but that's okay. The game is small, especially considering some new games that have come out. That's good because all my games need to be on my hard drive.
If you like yaw, roll, all that stuff, it is there. But be aware you can, as I do, work at getting the most powerful ship there is and killing everything. You can also rescue the pilots for a reward or shoot them.
Music is incredible, was on Rebel Galaxy too. Personally I turn off the music and listen to a podcast or audiobook because there are a lot of small missions.
If you like Heavy Metal, you'll like the intro. I appreciate the in-game stuff, but wish the characters inside were like the character in the intro.
Finally, to those who wrote such scathing reviews, take a breath. Go outside, breath, if you have a pet give some attention. It's a game for god's sake.
