Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

Loved it as a kid, not nearly as impressive now. The early 2000s wannabe Dreamworks humor is often grating, the camera control is ass, the combat is mediocre, the game is short and fairly linear and the tacked-on scoring system does little to make me want to revisit it. That being said, I still like the game overall. There's a lot of great platforming segments, and the game does a pretty good job of giving you new mechanics, enemies, etc. to play with, keeping the game fresh over it's runtime. There's many unique settings and characters, and most of it is unique and charming. It's lighthearted and fun, and nails enough jokes to be enjoyable. There's also a decent amount of unlockable side content and minigames if you're into that sort of thing. It's unambiguously a big step down from Rayman 2, I would go as far to say that both origins and legends are a better use of your time, but if you're a Rayman fan you should definitely still play it. This version of it has some technical issues that can be fixed with a patch that I forgot the name of, so good luck with that. It's a cheap and charming time capsule to an era in gaming long past, and while it's hardly worth reccomending to the uninitiated, for a fan of the series (like me) it's still a good time, and a fun nostalgia trip for people who played it as kids. tl;dr it's 6 dollars me brudda just go for it why u even reading this. why did i write it. it's fun but it's no Gorbino's Quest

The first Rayman games have aged very well, and here's the proof. It's a shame it's not part of GOG's game restoration program, because the PC port of this game deserves it. It was difficult to get it to recognize my controller. I had to install a community patch for that and consult several forums to improve gamepad support. Anyone interested in playing the PC version should install Better Rayman 3, as it will make the game look great and allow your modern gamepad to support it. If, after installing the patch, you are experiencing problems such as the right analog stick not controlling the camera, click on the Better Rayman 3 configuration application (BR3_Config.exe) and set the Horizontal Axis to 2 and the Vertical Axis to 5, and set the External Dead Zone to High.
