Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
good game and all but the camera is really clunky and the choice to make most levels unable to be 100% on a first time playthrue having to comeback to them just reqwires a guide to 100% the game, i have no idea if i have to find a secret exit to get all the cages and lums in a stage from a difrent level.
I remember playing this game back when it had just came out and I was a kid. Playing it brings back some great memories.
And GOG have done a great job bringing it to modern hardware, however its not perfect job, you will need to install a patch (specifically the Ray2Fix) in order for the game to work perfectly, especially if you are looking to use a controller to play the game instead of the rather unintuitive keyboard controls.
Rayman 2 is a great game that has so far stood the test of time.
It's got amazing music and atmosphere, a functional story and a bunch of original levels. There are some quirks with its running on modern system, such as some graphic system and copy protection that can act up.
If you can stomach these, it is an amazing game and one of the greatest of its kind.
The game feels short and the settings are a bit boring, bland and very different from the first game, but that’s the price you pay shifting from 2D to 3D graphics. There’s few collectables and a lot less challenge but there’s a lot of fixed and annoying camera angles, a slow, tumbling jumping style and a lot of ‘on rails’ sections to overcome. The shooting style of combat is functional and mildly challenging but is a bit lacklustre and looks cheap. The plot’s odd with a dark tone and heavy focus on mysticism but the characters are funny and charming and it still has a silly sense of humour about it. Overall it’s a fun game to play with a good number of levels, a range of gimmicks and good music but it definitely shows its age and the final boss was a real chore.
Note: The GOG version also took about an hour to get running effectively on a modern PC and I had to use community mod support – so much for keeping classic games alive. The bonus levels still don’t work properly but at least it’s better than nothing.
