Railroad Tycoon 3

The game is simply awesome, really really fun for people that like the genre. But GOG should really bring at least a 1080p resolution patch to it. The patch already exists, how about implementing it to the game?

Railraod Tycoon 3 is the last great train tycoon game. We Still don't have a worthy successor to this game after more than 20 years. Yes it's a bit rough around the edges but if you're even half as disapointed as I am with Railway Empire and Railroad Corporation especially, then don't this game pass you by unless you've already played it.

I sunk so much time into this game when it first came out, and again when I picked it up on GOG! An excellent tycoon simulation, combining the ruthlessness of business with the sheer joy of building train lines!

So, I can review this game with a complete lack of nostalgia goggles, since I just purchased it on GOG and have no experience with it prior. The good: -An environmentally appropriate bluegrass soundtrack. -Easy to understand basic gameplay. -Colorful, if somewhat minimalistic graphics. The bad: -Advanced concepts like when to buy a business can be unintuitive for people without previous experience, so I recommend watching a "Let's Play" before going particularly far in the campaign. -The cargo distribution maps are oddly primitive looking compared to the rest of the graphics. Summary: If you like business simulator/strategy games, give it a shot.

As it can be seen from other reviews on here, depending on how old you are and when you grew up this will either be an unsurpassed masterpiece, nowhere near as good as it's predecessors, or nowhere near as good as it's successors. I'm from the group that grew up with this one so this is a masterpiece in our eyes. Older people will disagree, younger people won't even look at this ugly mess.
