Excellent game. Rail sims are hard. Hard to play, hard to develop. All the ones I played before were bug ridden, logistic nightmare, micromanageing time killers with no joy. Rail Gard found the balance. It's not an easy game per se, but it lets you focus on the puzzle challenge of setting up routes without all the artificial obstacles of other rail sims. The campaign is fun and funny. It has very well done difficulty levels, Timed, Untimed, and unlimited cash. My go to is Untimed with limited cash requiring economy development. No Bugs! It did crash on me once in 76 hours of play but it came back to the same spot in the game. Good autosave on crash.
Unpolished program and in-game logic control. Stressful and Anxious.
The mouse rotating speed is not adjustable and too fast,
not allow to set return station as setting the forks per line,
not allow to set mouse preferations,
force player to view 45 degree rotated camera and must be manual adjusted,
the keyboard remap are weirdo which need rapidly hit target key when into "reading key" status, and has change to failure,
and force to play with meanless timer if you want more reward,
NO PAUSE NO SLOW, YOU HAVE TO CATCH A TRAIN if you wanna config it,
TRAINS ARE INITIALIZED TO RUNNING NOT STOPPING, ONCE YOU PUT ON A TRAIN THE GAME STARTING TO POUR YOU,
terrain has too many restriction, the auto build is not smart enough,
keys image not fulfilled in tutorial shows ,
to stop a train you can't directly hover and press key like in other games, you need to get in the train menu first,
NO DRAG AND PUT also STICKY MOUSE for rail placement and you need to:
CLICK ->
MOVE MOUSE ->
CLICK ->
RIGHT CLICK to break line ->
CLICK NEXT LINE
:instead of -> drag-move-release
Music volume control is also fake, will not be applied whatever volume level you set.
NO QUICK CONTROL, NO EASY CONFIG,
you need to "CATCH" EVERYTHING.
I like railway game but this is a painful journey through.
In widely perspectives, japanese are more serious and careful on their jobs, maybe that's last generation people did, nowdays young men are overly casual and lazy whereever in the world.
Got this on sale twice now, first on Steam because it looked interesting and now on here because I want to keep an offline installer. Wasn't expecting to like this game when I initially grabbed it because I typically don't like sci-fi games, but this was a very pleasant surprise for me. Similar enough to be a spiritual successor to Sid Meier's Railroads, but unique enough to stand out on its own. I cannot praise this game enough, I've already thrown almost 400 hours at it because it just resonates with me. I guess you can say this is my Factorio.
I didn't go into this game with any expectations, but I'm hooked. I've always been a big fan of factory optimization type games, and this is one of the best. I'm also very impressed with its pathfinding logic for connecting rail lines.
