One of my favorite game of all time

No game over, you live with yours errors. The story is very good. The characters are very charming. The OST is the best. The credits adapting to your story is the best move of all. I love this game. Bought on others platforms, and bought again on gog, because I love it :)

Great adventure with lots of style

I really liked this game for the story, wonderful sound and visual style. The story itself is what drew me in - learning about the characters and the world. The narrative of your choices having consequences and continuing forward regardless of the outcome is very mature in nature. Each character, faction and location have their own visual and audio queues bringing life to the world burning a vivid image of the experience. There is a lot of reading - plenty of exposition and notes scattered around. Make no mistake - the campaign isn't an action game and won't bring much satisfaction if taken from this angle. View it as visual novel though - it's a wonderful adventure. There is good pacing, enough time to build connection to the characters, what drives them forward and overreaching purpose, a quest to be fulfilled. When it comes to the game play - I felt it best to leave the difficulty as it was and enjoy the ride. The rite mini-games can be challenging at first but once you get the rhythm along with the enemy tactics, things become easier. There are plenty of strategic elements - choosing your current players and making sure they are levelled up, plays a large role in how the mini-games will unfold. On easier difficulties, items don't hold as much of an importance but I'm sure they will be invaluable at higher difficulty. If you are in for a good adventure that is well presented, then the Pyre won't disappoint!

The game that win me over

I wanted to like Pyre because I adore Bastion, I liked Transistor and I LOVE Hades. Bust this game proved to more of a challange to me. Not because of difficulty, but because of the gameplay. It IS a visual novel first, and a team-based ball game second. The lore, the art style, the characters, the music (oh my God, those tunes!) where instant love for me, but the gameplay... I started the game now, at start of my backlog cleaning, and after the first 4 hours, I finally come to the realisation that I love Pyre. I want to go further, I want to finnish the story, because even though the gameplay is still not my cup of tea, I cracked it and now I can enjoy it. If you are a Supergiant Games fan, it is a must-have, just as any on the team's game. Usually I am againt buying DLCs, exspecially when they are not providing any in-game content, but the OST DLC is very tempting in this case, Darren Korb is a genius.

Visual novel with sport mini game

More of a visual novel than an actual game. Since the novel accommodates for all kinds of various combinations of actions and outcomes the possibilities for any playthrough's story are huge. If a certain character will play a minor roll or be something of a mayor character is up to you. Problems: 1. You will have to read a lot. Actual gameplay happens for around 5% of the time. Rest is reading dialogue and traversing the map. Personally I did not find the story or world interesting or well presented enough for the massive amount of reading to feel worthwhile. 2. The story feels a bit hollow. I prefer more linear well structured narratives. Rather one good and thought through story than an infinite array of cheap feeling ones. As a result of the "create the story as you go"-approach, I found it difficult to care about whatever happened. The characters were more portraits with stats than actual characters to me. 3. For a game with almost no gameplay it does its best to annoy you with various items and currencies. If the minigames played a larger role it would not be as bad but I didn't really feel like putting a lot of effort into the stats, skills, synergies, equipment, upgrading equipment, collecting currencies or stat bonuses. Design, music etc is great and the mini game is fun. If the game had focused more on this and less on monologue bombing me with info about events and characters I don't care about, I would have enjoyed it more.

A lovely game.

Pyre is a lovely game. There are all sorts of neat details thrown in that many people will miss, simply because the people who made the game cared enough to put them in. The game is sort of a fantasy sports/rpg. The gameplay is exciting, and the mechanics are quite fun and offer a lot of stuff to play with. The art is excellent. The artists and animators made a beautiful game, and the soundtrack is wonderful. Something that was done particularly well is integrating the soundtrack into the game. You travel with a minstrel, and he will often play songs for you. The writing is very good with relatively few lines. The characters have distinct personalities that you can understand within a few moments of meeting them, and you can learn more about their motivations and history as you progress through the story. The game took me a bit over 10 hours to complete. I didn't personally feel like I needed to replay it, though the characters' stories do branch based on your decisions/how you play the game. I would recommend this game to people who really enjoy playing well-crafted games, people who enjoy action rpgs, and people who enjoy beautiful aesthetics.
