Build and manage a Maximum Security Prison. As the sun casts it’s early morning rays on a beautiful patch of countryside the clock starts ticking. You’ve got to crack on and build a holding cell to detain the job-lot of maximum security prisoners that are trundling to your future prison on their yellow bus. As your workmen lay the last brick you don’t have a moment to let them rest as they need to get started on the first proper cell block so you can make room for the next prisoner intake. Once they’ve all got a place to lay their weary heads the fun can really start. You’ll need a canteen, infirmary and a guard room, oh, and don’t forget to plumb in a toilet, or things will get messy, but what about a workout area? Or solitary confinement cells? Or an execution chamber?
Inspired by Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress and Theme Hospital and with over 1 million players having spent time inside, Prison Architect is the world’s best lock-em-up.

I haven't played the game yet, nor is it planned in the immediate futur, got the game for free like all the other reviewers...
Still I wanted to say that it is entirely possible to play offline without a paradox launcher or whatever, just gotta launch the right icon in you gog game directory of prison architect, i launched a sandbox prison without any problems.
I quite a fan of management builders game, however I found prison architect a bit clunky...
It does have a fair amount of options to do various things from building, power management and controling guard etc... however the scenarios are fairly fixed and lack much space to do anytihng by just follow the number and little room for your own creation, it also takes an overly long time to do even small objectives.
After playing it for a few days, i've found it quite dull and don't really see any point continuing to play it when there are other more exciting builder managment games out there.
After a long time of an intense development - here it is. The official, feature-complete game release. One of the few really successful, model stories for the crowdfunded games. Great track record during development and a final game release that actually plays like a polished, complete game (which is something that can be said about very few crowdfunded games). Easily comparable with a classic -Tycoon games, it's deep, fun, engaging, gives a huge field for creativity, optimization, building that beautiful clock that will just... tick. Or burns in flames because power generator exploded. ;) What's new comparing to many of the old tycoons are quite an advanced logic circuits allowing you to do some crazy magic and automation of your facility (someone even build a computer with it). Also the "escape" mode, while being the only part that feels a bit unfinished, yet full of potential, can be really fun and enjoyable while looking like a fresh addition to the genre, even if PA isn't the first game to make this sort of thing. Overall I would say that it's a worthy purchase, even for a full price. You'll have hours and hours of fun. Random fact: PA is so successful that it already inspired a creation of another game with similar arts style - Rim World.
I bought into this game way back in Alpha... It was a ton of fun, but still had a lot of bugs. Unfortuantely, when it was released, the devs did quite a few things I don't agree with.
With the campaign, they took a game that would've been "E for Everyone", and chucked it full of "adult content". Now, I'm all for having different games with different age content. But this game... it's top down, it's cartoony... there's no reason to throw in nudity, gory polaroids, and dark content. And even then, the storyline SUCKED! It felt like a dark, bloody, four-hour tutorial written by a 14 year old goth kid. And what's with having the prisoner's of a women's prison topless? No reason for that.
The game, overall, has plenty of content and fun outside of the Tutorial/Campaign. I was happy they added an escape mode. And the sandbox is excellent, with customizable difficulty. But there are still bugs, and it is still largely unfinished. I'm very disappointed overall.
