Prey

If you are familiar with System Shock 2, then this game is right up your alley. Basically you're in a spaceship, and some kind of aliens are taking over and you've got to solve the alien problem. As you would expect from this genre you've got some RPG-esque upgrades and multiple ways to approach situations. You can incorporate more alien powers, but if you over-do it the station's security systems may turn on you. The atmosphere is eerie and interesting, and the station is littered with notes and texts that flesh out the world, similar to Deus Ex. The xenomorph antagonists (the Typhon) don't quite measure up to the Many from SS2 but they are pretty fearsome nonetheless. Any fan of Arkane's other games e.g. Dishonored, Dark Messiah, should also consider picking this up.

I played the demo a while ago and was not impressed. I bought it much later and wanted just to finish it for the novelty, but boy am I glad I gave it a second chance. It has great atmosphere, graphics, sound and music, but with a few wrongly mixed (too loud) conversations. I finally uninstalled System Shock 2 (after who knows how many years), since this is just it - System Shock 2 with updated graphics and sound. Great game.

I can't find the correct words to describe the awe and immersion that this game made me experience. From start to finish, this game has kept me motivated to come back and finish it and that does not usually happen to me. From the first second of the game, to the mind blowing ending that ties the deep psychology and intellect of the story all together, this game is nothing short of a masterpiece. I'm glad I was able to experience Prey and I strongly recommend it.

It is a good game with a good story and an unexpected ending. The game play reminded me of the later parts of Deus Ex or the Dishonoured series which I liked a lot. It is challenging but allows for a good choice of difficulty. I was first reluctant to invest more into the alien skill tree because of the "problems" with turrets but this proved to be no big deal. The alien skills helped me a lot and were fun to play. Definitely a recommendation.

No crashes, glitches, stuttering-a very slick production. A top notch mixture of Shooter/RPG/Puzzler that keeps you playing long after the lights go out. I did not pull this out of the "still need to play" pile until this month but I wish I had played this years ago. I understand there is no chance of a Prey II but I suspect it would be very well received. My hat's off to the developers for a very well done game.
