People expect an action game, but this is more of a survival stealth puzzle game. I finished the game as a stealthy hacker-engineer, and I enjoyed it very much. The only downside for me was the non-explanatory ending.
I was very hesitant to buy this game and play it, because i don't do scary games well but if i can shoot and kill the scary monster then im better at handling it. The Mimics where pretty scary to begin with and still make me jump a bit when i don't expect them. But id say i'm less scared of the monsters than in the beginning. And so far the gameplay is pretty good. This game would put this day an age triple A games to same with it's design and gameplay. Id say the game is worth it.
Hearing people dislike this game because they thought it would be a new Prey game is a shame. This should not have been forced to be called Prey because Bethesda can't just make a new actual Prey game. Very good game though.
The most thoughtfully designed game I've ever played. The level design of Talos is inspired, fully realized and utterly believable. The attention to detail is staggering, and even the mechanics of the enemies works to elevate the enviornment by encouraging you to pay attention to your surroundings, and by punishing you if you do not. Every room tells a story of its own and contributes to the overarching narrative. Every corpse has a discoverable backstory. Every item was placed with intention. This game did not recieve the attention it absolutely deserved. Probably, at least partially, due to the title, 'Prey', not conveying well at all what you're in for. A more appropriate title would have been 'Psychoshock', as this is the best spiritual successor of 'System Shock 2' that anyone could have hoped for. And in my opinion, this game is even better.
