I know this review will be downvoted to oblivion, but could you please add achement support? Every other version has it and it adds a lot of replay value to the game. Other than that, the remaster is amazing and am very impressed. I loved and still own the saturn/ps1 games, and this package is a gift from the gods. The standard price is fair and worth a purchase from old users and new people who have not yet experienced it yet.
The remaster has been great, I'm not done yet nor have I played it beforehand
- The controls, movement, shooting, platforming, updated graphics, combo of PS/Dreamcast versions, being able to look all the way up and down, and more is fantastic. Definitely worth the wait
The improvements and suggestions:
- First would be to have your hitbox smaller, you get hit by small projectiles that should be easy to dodge. This is also noticeable when you run into walls you think you would be able to jump on and it feels your hitbox prevents you from reaching certain areas easier. This might be due to maps being altered
- The PC version of the game had extra animations for your death type, and voicelines for the spec ops guy you play as. Things like these should be added in and or optional
- The addition of quick saving, or at least the option to choose between Checkpoints and quick saving
- The ability to change your HUD between modern and classsic, modern being have less on screen
- more information in and about your inventory, also an objective/message journal instead of always needing to return to Ramses in case you forget where to go
- optional choice between having different ammo types or the blue weapon power pickups
Besides these small suggestions I am loving the game and definitely recommend it
Powerslave is a 3D metroidvania before Metroid Prime. As such, its really cool. . . as long as you can overlook some rough aspects. The remaster especially makes this easy, though.
Absolute classic game from the original Doom sort of Era. Standard difficulty is just like the original I used to enjoy on the PS1 back in the late Ninties.
Turn the difficulty up though and you get a whole new "Kettle of Fish" great replayability for those who want a harsh challenge and plenty of ways to try and play it out.
