POSTAL: Classic and Uncut

I liked the game back in the day, though it hasn't aged well. I'd give it 4/5 stars IF IT WORKED on modern systems. Because it doesn't. Even though according to GOG the game is compatible with win7, it is not. There are two problems - the character not turning left when playing with a keyboard or a gamepad (I tried the 360 one) and downed enemies spinning looking ridiculous and totally breaking the immersion. While there is a hotfix on GOG and a patch on the forums adressing the first problem the result is far from satisfactory as the character does indeed start turning left but in a choppy way, about 2x times slower than he turns right. It's a rough hack job and not a fix, hardly makes the game playable. The second, enemy spinning, problem reported by many players on the forums remains unresolved and it is perhaps even more annoying as it happens ALL the time and ruins the game. The fact that even though these problems are described in detail on the forums GOG is still selling Postal as win7 compatible is ridiculous and disrespectful to the customer. tl;dr Don't buy if you have win7.

I don't quite understand why it's such a popular game. Postal 2 I get, but this? Comparing to Postal 2, this is really tame and boring. It's buggy and the graphics are pretty ugly. The character models look out of place with the handdrawn backgrounds. The main menu is weird and looks as if someone threw it together in paint within a minute. One major bug I remember is that you can't turn left/right. You have to tap left/right in order to turn, which is not even worth bothering with. I've never enjoyed this game because of just how frustrating it is. There is not a single redeeming factor I can think of. If all the bugs are fixed, I still think the game is barely worth it. You have to be a hardcore fan. Unless you REALLY think you might enjoy it, despite its many flaws, skip this.

It's not like a classic but it started a classic. It's short, very simple, repetitive but it doesn't stay its welcome so I guess if you get it for free or on huge discount it's cool to play around with. It's a playground of mayhem. I like the watercolor backgrounds but a lot of it is static except a few exploding barrels, it makes it seem a bit boring.

I played Postal as a kid. It was a cool game back then. Even more so now! Which shows that people remain violent and craving for blood their whole lives. Postal is a harmful game that should be played by children. Of course, I believe that someone who plays it will shoot people in the neighborhood. What I find fantastic is its lack of empathy. And to top it all off, the fact that its creators come from a country where 762 people died in 2022 only adds to its replay value. GOG, tell Running with Scissors to let me pay for this game.
