Paris, 1920’s. A horrible murder has taken place in a ritzy hotel. There’s nothing worse than retiring from the dirty detective business only to be pulled back in by a silently screaming pair of corpses. Name’s MacPherson, Gus to my friends. I didn’t want to take on this job but the dame was loaded, and I’m not talking cash. Women, the one weakness of a lonely gumshoe, they bat their eyelashes and he’s like putty in their hands. Turns out the stiffs were her sister and brother-in-law. As is usual for the fuzz, they acted like rampaging bulls in a china shop, made a mess of the whole case and that leaves me as life’s own janitor. Sigh, guess I better get cracking before the stiffs get too cold.
Welcome to Post Mortem, a moody, blood-drenched first-person detective thriller set in 1920’s Paris, France. Step into the shoes of Gus MacPherson, a former detective who wanted to retire to a quiet life of painting, as he takes on a grisly double murder mystery. You’ll meet plenty of unique characters on your way to solving the mystery, but beware, not all of them can be trusted and some can lead you down a dangerous path if you’re not careful. Can you crack the case before it kills you?
A built-in 'Conversation Engine' for multiple endings and replayability.
Featuring a thriller 'film noir' storyline, sets the mood perfectly: dimly lit environments, magic and the occult, visual and tactile hints and nuances, ritualistic murder investigation, immersive ambient sounds and music.
20 different characters each with individual personalities, all involved with the investigation.
I never play investigation games. I have very rarely cared for any point and clicks. I hate puzzle games.
I was lured in by the pretty girl, the art and the price.
I'm sure this game is perfect for someone else.
Frustrating and bland story line.
Puzzles in the game made no sense even when you cheated and used a walk-through - I walked away from this game .. hence the 1 star review
OK, I approached this game after finishing the first Still Life. Knowing that it's a prequel to that game I really wanted to like this one. But the game failed me miserably.
Firstly, no dialogue skipping - a big, big no no for an adventure.
Secontly, plot holes right from the beginning of the game - you tell the lady you're not interested in the case, then you go and meet her and suddenly you know it's the murder of her sister? How's that possible? Oh, and what would have happened if you hadn't called? Nothing. You supposedly have a choice whether to take the case but in reality you don't. Bad writing.
Thirdly, and that annoyed me from the very start of the actual gameplay - the movement/controls pseudo-360 degrees thingy. It's awful and very frustrating. It has all the disadvantages from FPP and TPP but has none of their advantages - worst of both worlds.
Fourthly, as I decided I don't like the game as such very much but I'd try to just complete the story with a walkthrough for the sake of the story itself... The game crashes every time I alt-tab out of it.
So thank you, no.
The game is plagued with tons of bug and weird clicking object\locations. Pixel hunting do get an item or a step and sometimes it doesn't work too.
Just watch a walktrough on youtube if you want to know how the story of Still Life's precursor.
Honestly, the game is bland, the characters are flat. The protagonist is an absolute moron.
Don't waste money on this game, there are way better occult themed mystery games out there.
