Take on the role of a young adventurer and, with bravery and skill, establish a large trading enterprise of great economic strength and military power. Trade goods between towns, set up production facilities, create cartels, accept all kinds of tasks and missions (merchants, diplomats and other), and set off on voyages to capture enemy ships and loot towns.
As pirates and military fleets threaten your trade convoys you may need to escort ships for your convoys, or you can turn the tides and hunt for pirates or capture the military ships, becoming more famous and expanding your own fleet as well as your stock of goods.

just to try it
i was looking out for Patrizier, DIe Gilde, Fugger, Die Hanse etc...found this one too...just checked it out...truely i'm more into those other games & i think patrizier 3 is a bit better (graphics, gameplay etc) ...but still it's a good alternative... it's a nice add-on for my 2 lil i4770/i4790 4gb gpu 8/16gb ram win10 pc's; on them i play older pc (90's - early2010's)/dos/amiga-emu games...still looking out for older cheap games on sale...

Fine trading game
If you are into trading then the game has it. You can manipulate the economy and probably do a bunch of other stuff. At the same time, it doesn't look like the game is all that deep so while it hasn't yet happened to me, I think it should become boring after about 10 to 15 hours or so. There also doesn't appear to be any campaign mode, just free play sandbox mode. The game does feel fairly archaic but not prohibitively so.

Great game
This game is great. I played tons of hours. Not too easy, nor too hard. Battles excelently made (one ship can destroj 3 better ships). The only thing i didn't like was, that there is only one place (Carribean) to play. I would like to try other areas (Mediterranean...). Well, also after couple of hours playing it becomes a bit routine.
