To become a deity, you must conquer all 25 planets of the system and defeat every other tribe and their shamans. The ultimate struggle will be a difficult one, as you build mystical cities, unleash devastating spells, harness volcanoes and tornadoes, and shape the face of the planet at your will. Remember, your apotheosis awaits!
In the third part of the Populous series, you control your shaman and the tribe of her followers in a difficult quest to conquer all 25 planets of a star system and ascend to godhood. For the first time in the series, the world is presented in true 3d, which at the time amazed both the players and the gaming press.The level of control you exert over your followers also takes you to a new level: you can order individuals or groups to perform certain tasks like gathering resources, constructing buildings, or attacking your enemies.
Populous: The Beginning takes a slightly different approach from the previous installments of the series but this is not, by any means, a bad thing as it kept the series fresh and innovative. It was a bold move for Bullfrog but the proof exists in the fact that, after all these years Populous 3 is still a great strategy god-game.

Nostalgia is strong here
It is a quite unique game, for 20 years I haven't seen anything like it. Was my pleasure to play it again. Works well on Win10.

Old school RTS that still plays well
Imagine warcraft III but you have one hero with ALL the abilities. It's an RTS with a physics engine. You can cast a fire ball beside an enemy to have the blast push them off a cliff and/or into the ocean. The game is absolute choas in the best way. Summon bees in your enemy camps, convert enemy troops with missionaries, or summon an angel of death and watch your enemies visably panic. However your foes can do all of that too. It's old school but holes up very well. Graphics are still very servicable, there's no cap to how many unit you can control at a time, and the game still offers a unique RTS experience. The only real downsides it the lack of functional multiplayer, and some very preditable AI behavior. Still though for $5-10 its worth it for the novel experience alone.

Just as good 25+ years later
I remember playing this game in it's demo form with a cd purchase of Sim City 3000. I religiously played that demo for years, but was never able to buy the game. Fast forward 27 years later and a core memory has been unlocked. This game for sure paved the way for subsequent God-mode games to come. Nowadays every neat game is behind a pay-wall, but not this beauty. Simply play it to it's fullest from the get go. I'll be mastering this game over the summer. Cheers to GOG for placing this game in their library!
