In the third part of the Populous series, you control your shaman and the tribe of her followers in a difficult quest to conquer all 25 planets of a star system and ascend to godhood. For the first time in the series, the world is presented in true 3d, which at the time amazed both the players and the gaming press.The level of control you exert over your followers also takes you to a new level: you can order individuals or groups to perform certain tasks like gathering resources, constructing buildings, or attacking your enemies.
Populous: The Beginning takes a slightly different approach from the previous installments of the series but this is not, by any means, a bad thing as it kept the series fresh and innovative. It was a bold move for Bullfrog but the proof exists in the fact that, after all these years Populous 3 is still a great strategy god-game.

Another game I can't play
I like the idea of GOG. It's great, however, the reality of GOG is that when they say a game works on your OS, means that it's possible one person out of a thousand got it to work. This game does not work on Windows 7. IT DOES NOT WORK ON WIN 7. If it works on another OS don't say it works on every OS just because you are trying to make money. It's super lame. I really, really, really had hoped I would be able to play this game. So disappointing...

Doesn't stand the test of time
Unfortunately, this is yet another game that doesn't stand the test of time. There are better RTS with better controls and an overall better experience. Some examples of awkwardness: (1) you can zoom to your shaman with a hotkey but cannot select her with one. (2) In pause mode, you can do hardly anything but scroll, which means that the fast moving troops are almost impossible to click. The AI can cast spells back-to-back and you really don't have a chance to. (3) there doesn't seem to be any auto actions; have an idle villager next to an unbuilt building and you still have to notice and action it. (4) the radius for auto attack is ridiculous; lots of times I have 15 warriors 'guarding' a pass and enemies walk right next to it or attack 2-3 and the rest just stand there. (5) you can't just select idle followers to do something. (6) 800x600 is the max resolution, which is just plain frustrating on a huge screen. (7) there's no auto-save feature so if save at the start of a level, finish the level to unlock the next one, and forget to save you have to repeat the level you saved on. Other, more modern, RTS have solved these issues so I'd recommend sticking to one of those. PS: Other reviewers if you can't play a game, don't rate it 5* sheesh!

I cant open it!
Ive downloaded the game but it wont start i get this message. A 3D device with the required capabillities could not be found. If you do have one please counsolt the Troubleshooting section of the reference card. Otherwise. run the softwear verson of populous the beginning.
