In the third part of the Populous series, you control your shaman and the tribe of her followers in a difficult quest to conquer all 25 planets of a star system and ascend to godhood. For the first time in the series, the world is presented in true 3d, which at the time amazed both the players and the gaming press.The level of control you exert over your followers also takes you to a new level: you can order individuals or groups to perform certain tasks like gathering resources, constructing buildings, or attacking your enemies.
Populous: The Beginning takes a slightly different approach from the previous installments of the series but this is not, by any means, a bad thing as it kept the series fresh and innovative. It was a bold move for Bullfrog but the proof exists in the fact that, after all these years Populous 3 is still a great strategy god-game.

A Game Ahead of It's Time
This game is pure nostalgia, but it is also unique in its approach to RTS gameplay. Voxel based terrain alteration, different unit types that have unique abilities (priests converting enemy units or fire-warriors attacking from range), transportation methods (boats & hot-air balloons) and powerful command units (the Shamans) make for a different approach in how one strategizes to engage the enemy. A lengthy campaign with different challenges that always keeps you on your toes is a great way of mixing up your strategy and giving you new problems to solve. I'd say this is definately worth the buy, it is now available on Steam as well if you want to keep are your games consolidated to one digital storefront.

Fun RTS with Magic
RTS where you make your Tribal Shaman into a god. Fun spells which adds a great depth to the gameplay. Summon Dragons Volcanoes Lightningbolts, Deadly Bees, Hypnotism, Spies, Fire Warriors, and more. Brilliant game. The death animation is very satisfying and the game overall has tons of briliant small details which are funny and enjoyable.
