While I would have liked gameplay to have more bite and variety, Planet of Lana is still an enjoyable and beautiful romp. The art direction and main jingle are likely the only things that will stick with me in the long run, but Lana and Mui’s journey is a competent rescue mission that doesn’t always soar as high as the machines pursuing them.

The best cinematic platformer yet.

Ever since I played the original two Oddworld games, I've been a fan of cinematic platformers, and 'Planet of Lana' is my favorite one yet. Also described as a puzzle platformer, that nomenclature doesn't really fit this game, in my opinion. There's a clear distinction between the two genres. And just like Limbo and Inside, 'Planet of Lana' harks back to classics like 'Another World' and Blackthorne more than say 'Donkey Kong '94' or 'The Lost Vikings'. With that said, I think this is a fantastic game filled with gorgeous scenery, breathtaking set pieces, tight platforming, fun puzzles, an amazing original score and a beautiful sci-fi story about bravery and empathy. If you're a fan of the genre, I can't recommend this game enough.

Colorful and easy to play

A cinematic platformer that deliver a comfortable moment for 4 hours or so. The music, the landscape colors composition, the light and sound design bring a feeling of calm. The story is both cryptic and clear as always in those game. With an intuitive game-play and simple puzzles the game's rhythm is perfect. For players who don't look for a challenge but rather a beautiful experience done in a few hours. Go for it.

Chill, cozy puzzle platformer

This is mainly a game you play for the world, the ambiance, and the feeling of it all. The puzzles are pretty simple, the story is entirely non-verbal and so pretty basic, but the art is beautiful, the setting evocative, and it all works in its own simple, chill way. It's not new or surprising or deeply challenging, but not everything needs to be. For what it is, this game is great.

Fantastic

The kind of wonderful artwork and music I loved in Gris and the kind of puzzles I loved in Limbo. I really well executed left-to-right puzzle platformer. Not too challenging -- just what I needed this weekend.
