I played this on PS3

This game reminded me at first glance of the Sega Genesis game Subterrania, which my neighbor had and I obsessed over, so I naturally purchased both this game and its sequel when they debuted on the PSN Store. It was love at first sight: While it's presentation isn't anything to write home about, Pixeljunk Shooter's myriad puzzles and the intricacies of combat immediately won me over as an avid arcade shooter fan. The music is utterly fantastic, thanks to High Frequency Bandwidth, and the game's bosses--I think there are three of them in this entry if I'm not mistaken--are some of the best I've seen in this genre. This game is well worth your money, and when it ends you will be longing for its sequel.

Good time waster

Picked it up on sale and although a decent little game I'm glad I didn't pay full price. The controls are well done, graphics and sounds good and death/save system up to modern standards. The levels are varied just enough to keep it interesting and new features added as you progress so it doesn't go stale. The water, lava/solidified lava, ferro fluid ice & smoke physics make sense and work well. I played it at lunch time on and off over the course of a year but if you went solid on it I'm guessing it's about a 3-8 hour game depending on how fast and thorough you want to play it. Any chance GOG will get the sequel?

Fun 2-d explorer

It's like a space shooter version+collectathon. Has a cool theme of elemental interactions and manipulating materials that makes for novel, entertaining game-play.

Classic gameplay

Tight controls, intelligent level design, cool music! Everything a good shooter needs. Not just a shooter but a puzzler as well.

Excellent game with co-op

I was pleasantly surprised by this title, it's really good! The graphics are nicely scalable to any resolution, the controls are customizable between keyboard, mouse and any (also non-Xbox!) gamepad, it has a very nice local co-op multiplayer, the level design is good, the shooting not too excessive, the physics puzzles somewhat relaxing and the difficulty curve just right. I've missed a few jewels but found most of the stuff. The only annoying thing is the sometimes buggy physics engine, causing a tiny single drop of lava or oil to kill you instantly while sometimes you barely survive a whole flood for a second (without shield) and two times I hid behind a large indestructible rock but died because of hazardous fluids on the other side. Those minor flaws aside it is an excellent game.
