Depends of what you want of an RPG

Second DLC was a disappointement for me. Was never a big fan of combat focused RPGs like Icewind Dale, and this DLC is, as advertised, a whole lot of fights. I wouldn't mind the fights if there was a higher level cap, but you're still capped at 20. So if you finished the game and done first DLC (Beast of Winter) you're for sure at level cap. With no progression for your PCs I would recommend that you begin the challenges and hunts at mid to high level. In my second playthrough I'll go through Seeker Slayer Survivor before Beast of Winter, and sprinkle those challenges between story quests. Still, what you get is really good content. You've got a whole arena with lot of challenging and clever fights. Some of them are really interresting because they're unusual in their composition. You wouldn't barge in these kind of fights while adventuring. You get hunts, that are scripted usual PoE events or fights. Doing those hunts unlock you more challenges at the arena. The more you advance in challenges the sweeter the rewards. Overall, it's a neat system. Not my cup of tea, would prefer a DLC more focused on a narrative, but good. Looking forward to the Forgotten Sanctum.

If it's a fight you want...

If what you love about real time with pause RPGs is combat, this is the DLC for you, as it's basically just one giant arena with a couple of item hunt bounties that you can complete to have more arena fights. There's some story thrown in to make it less tedious, but if you're interested in story or world building, avoid this DLC.

2nd DLC doesn't disappoint

From the 3 announced DLC this is the one I was looking forward the least. I mostly play RPGs for story and exploration so combat driven content wasn't exactly my first choice. That said I still enjoyed it quite a bit. SSS adds a new location which revolves around an arena. Most of the content consists of various fights which you will be doing there, divided into 3 main categories: Seeker (making you think more of your tactics by adding unique constrains or giving opponents advantagious position), Slayer (usually against heavy hitting opponents) and Survivor (wave based encounters requiring resource management). Luckily they are well designed encounters. They are challenging and most of them are quite unique. Still, even more so than BoW, this is a DLC which should work best when played with the main game when you do couple challenges between the core game content, rather than doing them all in a row. On top of a lot of fighting, there is a story to the arena, which once again manages to add to the overall story and lore of the base game + an additional content for one of your sidekicks.

Combat heavy

This expansion focuses mostly on combat enounters. While the story is unfortunately secondary, those encounters are very creative and unique. Not much to explore either, but overall a fun addition to the main game.

Not entirely thrilled....

There's an interesting idea buried inside this DLC, and I like some of the items and dialogue quite a bit. It's great if your primary interest is solving combat as a series of problems. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all it is. Everything's a framework to allow you to go into a whole bunch of arena fights and if that's not your jam you're not going to love it.
