Interesting mechanics, average story
Deadfire is a nice game to play, and I had a lot of fun playing it. the multiclass system is a fun way to build characters that feels different enough from the first game to feel fresh when playing. Pros: - some story moments are really nice, and the devs had some nice ideas, even though I don't think they were very well implemented. - the amount of build you can make with multiclass is incredible - the amount of gameplay mechanics you can use. you always have one option or another, and if your build isn't perfect, options like potions, scrolls, enchanting and even retraining your characters can be done. Con: - even though some story moments are nice, in general the story is weak. - some mechanics don't appear to work as well as pillars 1 (the engagement mechanic sometimes worked for me, a lot of times it didn't) - some crashes in the game, and bugs (sometimes, you ask your characters to do an action, and they just stand in place, trying to do an action, and cancelling, and instantly trying to do it again. normally walking into another position fixes this, but it happened constantly) - too little dungeons. the few ones that it had i had a lot of fun playing, but i think it isn't enough. this is a fun game to play, but I reccomend playing pillars 1 first. PS: a small observation - is this game woke? all I can say is that pratically all the factions and npcs in important positions are women, and they usually have the "girlboss personality" (being full of themselves, angry, among other stuff). I still had fun playing even with all this in the game, so interpret this as you will.

Frame Drops Everywhere
Really liked POE1. But POE2 has really bad performance, When you have to look for dedicated forums to make the game run well (and still not working as it should) it's not a good experience.

More filler than meat
It's mechanically better than Pillars 1, but chock full of low quality filler content. Lots of quantity, but not much quality. Some of the Companions are pretty annoying too. Overall it's a passable RPG, but nowhere near as good as industry leaders like Larian Studios put out. I would even say Obsidian's most recent release, Avowed is better. POE 2 is also tiring to play and needlessly mechanically complex. There's no joy or fun in the storyline either, it takes itself way too seriously and it's also extremely grim and negative in tone all the time as well. Overall, just okay.
