Typical trade game, good music
Patrician is a typical trade game, but the graphics and music are quite good. One flaw is that in the campaign mode, the game continues even if you don't complete the mission by the designated deadline. Unfortunately, the campaigns aren't progressive, like the ones in Caesar.

Ages Like Wine From Cologne
Arguably one of the greatest trading/business sims in videogame history, there are a huge amount of options for economic, social and political progression open to the player, the Medieval world it depicts feels detailed and atmospheric and it still looks beautiful.

Where's that mod?
Patrician the Third is a classic trading sim. Many reviews here have it down as one of the best and this is true. I recall playing this with a mod now long lost where your character started with -nothing-. Neither ship nor cash. You had to head straight to the loanshark to enable enough of a loan to have your first ship contracted at the local shipyard. Then you could play. Remarkable with or without this lost mod that was so excellent that particular start has remained a gaming moment for me ever since.
