Discover the Story
Your path will lead you to the Worldwound, where the opening of a rift to the Abyss has unleashed all-consuming terror across the land. For over a century, the neighboring nations have fought fearlessly, trying to drive the enemy back — but to little avail.
Now, you have the chance to put an end to this conflict, but the path to salvation is far from clear-cut. Will you become a shining angel, backed by noble paladins? Or a powerful necromancer with hordes of immortal undead in your thrall? Or something else entirely? Lead your army and challenge mighty demon lords. Your crusade will set in motion a chain of events that will leave you — and the world itself — forever changed.
PLAY YOUR HERO, YOUR WAY
Create any character imaginable with the flexibility, richness, and depth of the Pathfinder First Edition ruleset. Choose from 25 classes, 12 character races, and more than a thousand spells, feats, and abilities to suit your personal playstyle.
FOR EVERY CHOICE, A CONSEQUENCE
Your decisions have more weight than ever before. Your goal is clear, but you must forge your own path to it. Who will die, and who will live? Who will stay, and who will go? Make your choices, and watch the world around you change.
A NEW WAY TO FIGHT
Enjoy two combat modes as you slay your enemies – real-time with pause or turn-based. Switch between them on the fly, so you can always take things as slowly — or as quickly — as you like. The unique Pathfinder ruleset also allows you to perform advanced combat maneuvers, like mounted combat. Use them wisely!
GATHER YOUR PARTY
A cast of more than 10 unique companions is ready to join your cause. Earn their trust and respect, and they will have your back no matter what dangers lie ahead. And if you get on their bad side, well… Maybe it’s time to part ways.
LEAD THE CRUSADE
You will need much more than a party of adventurers to cleanse the land of its demonic scourge. Take command of the crusaders and lead them to victory – both as a strategist, controlling the battle from above, and as a field commander, in a new tactical combat mode.
CHOOSE YOUR PATH
Explore nine unique Mythic Paths: obtain extraordinary abilities and shape everything that comes next. Your decisions might transform you into a celestial Angel, a raging Demon, a powerful Lich, a cunning Trickster, an otherworldly Aeon, a rebellious Azata, a wise Gold Dragon, an insatiable Swarm That Walks — or remain mortal and walk the arduous path toward becoming a living Legend.

Great until act 5 crusade mode. Even with the toybox mod it takes literal hours of "skip day" to build up your armies and skip through the crusade battles. Just an obnoxious waste of time.
UI is just bad, especially combat UI. Turn based mod is not very good (especially after BG3 and Solasta, the latter is comparable to this game in many ways and is just much better at the UI and combat). Real time combat is kind of a bland and nothing really has any real impact until an enemy suddenly 'pops' like in turn based mode, lol. On top of this the dialog and story are just not good, or even mediocre, its cringy bad a lot of time. And it is obvious why, same issue DAV had and why that games story and dialog are terrible. Lucky I got this on the 90 percent off sale, I doubt I will play much more.
This is a game that is held back by bugs, but if you look at my hours played- a staggering 170h in not even under a month- you'll see I found it more than worth my while despite them.
**Strengths**
- Amazing art (3D, Drawings, environments, music). Especially the music is memorable.
- Absurd amount of customization and options for building your characters class + backstory, and RPing them
- Many ways to express your character via consequences and dialogue
- The Mythic Paths offer a lot of uniqueness I really loved
- Interesting story that kept me entertained from start to finish (sometimes great, sometimes OK)
- Voice actors do a fantastic job
- Intensely challenging combat
**Areas for improvement**
- Bugs. I didn't run into game breaking ones, but it's clearly a game without polish.
- Some puzzles are great, some puzzles are horrible
- The challenge of the combat sometimes comes from poorly balanced encounters. Note: I always found a way to deal with them, but sometimes a boss' minions were tougher than the boss itself.
- Pre-buffing is a necessity in this game, and can feel like a chore. I have nostalgia to help me get over this, but for people fond of say Pillars of Eternity, the long time spent on just prepping for fights may be off-putting.
- Crusade mode, while immersive and fitting, is tactically extremely simple and offers little nuance.
**Final reflections and verdict:**
I have patience with games that set the bar high, and want a lot. You can tell Owlcat aims for the stars- and they almost get there.
I adore this game and consider it as masterpiece. It is a game that will really, really click with some people and completely turn away others, I suspect. If you feel intrigued, despite the variance in reviews, I think this may be for you.
But maybe wait a few months for the bugs to get fixed.
This and Kingmaker is the true good RPGs on the market right now. Not afraid to trust their players with challenging and complicating rules, great companions and replayability. Already on my second playthrough, this is great!
