Based on our players' feedback and suggestions, this version of the game improves and builds upon the original. This edition includes:

  • new abilities and ways to build your character, including a brand-new class,

  • enhanced kingdom management system, both in terms of balance as well as usability and player comfort,
  • increased variety of random encounters on the global map,
  • thousands of fixes and improvements made since the game's initial release.

With the help of over 18,000 Kickstarter backers, Narrative Designer Chris Avellone and composer Inon Zur, Owlcat Games is proud to bring you the first isometric computer RPG set in the beloved Pathfinder tabletop universe. Enjoy a classic RPG experience inspired by games like Baldur's Gate, Fallout 1 and 2 and Arcanum. Explore and conquer the Stolen Lands and make them your kingdom!

Explore the Stolen Lands, a region that has been contested territory for centuries. Hundreds of kingdoms have risen and fallen in these lands, and now it is time for you to make your mark—by building your own kingdom! To do so, you’ll need to survive the harsh wilderness and the threat of rival nations… as well as threats within your own court.

Customize your character with a wide range of classes and powers including specialized archetypes, powerful arcane and divine spells, choosing from a multitude of class abilities, skills, and feats. Pathfinder allows players to create heroes (or villains) that fit both their individual gameplay styles and their personalities.

Meet a diverse cast of companions and NPCs, including iconic characters from the Pathfinder setting itself. You’ll need to decide who to trust and who to watch carefully, as each companion has an agenda, alignment, and goals that may differ from yours. Your journey will become their journey, and you’ll help shape their lives both in the moment and well into the future.

Conquer new regions as claim them as your own, carving your kingdom from the wilderness. While classic dungeon crawling and exploration lie at the heart of this adventure, diplomacy, politics, and kingdom development are also part of the challenge. Choose your allies well, and keep them close while exploring ancient tombs and ruins — and while dealing with politics in your own court.

Your kingdom is a reflection of your character and your choices throughout the game. It is a living thing shaped by your alignment, your allies, and your ability to lead your people. Not only can your kingdom expand, opening up new territories and allowing you to build new towns and communities, but your capital city will physically change based on your decisions, your policies, and even whom you choose to ally with. As your kingdom grows, a number of factions and neighboring countries will come to you to seek favor—and to test your strength.

Explore - Conquer - Rule!

So "creative" that become inconsistent

Pathfinder: Kingmaker tried to be a pegasus, but ended up a frankenstein. Because here you have: - immersive things (locations, story, music) AND ever-present time limits. How can I stop by and marvel the tatzlwurm location's pines and mist, when clocks are ticking right at the top of the screen? I need this time to rest my everfatiguing party, return to the merchant, manage the barony and so on! - explicit AND hidden time counters! This is counterintuitive and just deceiving. It's good when game outplays you - at the level of plot or characters, not in the core mechanics. - classic party-RPG AND economic strategy simultaneously! Mixing genres is to create a new one or to tint one with another. But here you just have TWO subgames, rather mutually interfering. Mostly I was choosing between expiring quests and barony events. (while clock counter was making sure I'll succeed in neither) After all, rules and borders help to create a setting, a coherent image of something. And overcoming most of the borders can sometimes just render your image inconsistent, and your game - a "mixed bag".

A buggy masterpiece!

Despite a large number of bugs in this game, i still rate it five stars. A bit illogical i know, but everything about this game is so immersive and simply addictive that i just can't help it. The game features an open world which slowly opens up as you progress, with overwhelming amount of things to do. The story is unique in a sense that it revolves around you, the player, and it is a really well written game. Companions are also fun and each features a story and a unique character arc. So in addition to the main players story, your companions are also growing and evolving with you. The game also features an elaborate kingdom management. So it's not like you get a fort, then upgrade few walls and that's it. No your kingdom will crumble if neglected, and it is constantly being assaulted on all sides. Some of these you must resolve personally, while others can be resolved through your advisors and later ministers. Obvious downside of this game are bugs. There are plenty of them, mostly once you reach later stages of the game. Some are game breaking, others are simple enough to be barely noticeable. Luckily for me, i haven't encountered any game breaking bugs yet, and i am nearing the end of the game. However, i did encounter issues with non functioning NPC's, quests that aren't being updated, some class features and skill not working as intended etc. But while we are still on topic of bugs, i will say that devs are really doing their best to fix the most critical ones. The game is being patched at least three times per week since the release, and there are plenty more to come. I know they shouldn't be in game in the first place, but this is their first game, and i am willing to give them a pass, especially seeing how hard they try to fix it. I've bought this game without knowing anything about it, literally. I heard of it only few days before release. I took a risk and bought it, and i am glad i did!

RPG for pen&paper lovers

Forewords: I have played a lot of pen and paper 3ed D&D and some 3.5ed D&D. But I have never played Pathfinder. I started the game with "challenging" but lowered one thing to "custom". I didn't like "slightly tougher enemies", because I feel the "+2" or so modifiers the enemies get is more than just slightly in the long run. I like this game. A lot. I have read other reviews about bugs and the game being unfair/too hard. I have not witnessed that. I see the challenges that other have with hard encounters, but I also can always turn away from them. Get experience(for me as a player and my characters) and explore the lands. What I have witnessed (pros): - Good dialogy - Great "Camp resting" mechanics - Phenominally great tabletop RPG => computer game mechanics. *applaud* - Great Character creation. A lot of options. - Really challenging fights, but that is something that I like. - I like the time limit in the first main quest. It is not harsh, but it is there. But there are things to improve (cons): - The infamous Spider swarm quest encounter... So just ignore it if you can't handle it. I couldn't, but I might later. I made a fighter, but a sorc or wizard could make short work of them. - There are some bugs. One of my class features doesn't work. No big deal, but a downer. - Experience from battle is too low. This game is so pen and paper, but the fights vs experience gain is demoriliazing. It seems so futile. It seems like nothing. I have played just few nights. But so far it is everything I had hoped.

I can't stop playing

I won't go into full details but the game could use more or a tutorial for the system. That being said I've stayed up much too late the last few days playing this game so I'd call that a ringing endorsement. I'll leave the nitpicks to people who prefer to spend their time complaining about the game instead of playing it.

Great game!

Yes, this game has bugs. And balance issues. And, if played on difficulty higher than normal, makes people come here and write a one star review out of frustration :) (I suggest watching at least parts of some playthrough to get the idea how hard it is) Not to mention that full rulebook for D&D Patfinder Kingmaker is hundreds of pages long and not included in game, so a lot of aspects are not properly explained. Still, I don't remember having so much fun since Baldur's Gate 1 or PoE1. In my personal ranking by far the best RPG in last few years. Trumps over PoE2, easily. Overland map is great, similar to old Realms of Arkania games, but better. Personally think it's much better than world like in DOS1 or 2. Camping is cool, not required every night, with frequency depending on fatigue, which in turn depends on constitution stat (IIRC). Combat is good, pretty similar to Infinity Engine, real time with pause - although turn based combat similar to ToEE would make this game legendary :) too bad... So far, writing is very good, story pretty standard, but interesting enough, driven mostly by dialogs which is great. There are timed quests, but so far I haven't failed any. It seems that following one particular quests can fail another one, which is great idea, actually. I didn't play the kingdom building part long enough, but even the first chapter alone is better than many games :) So, if you don't mind reading descriptions of hundreds of feats, spells and abilities, it's a must buy!
