Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition

The year of our lord 2019 and game developers still think that making a game that requires endless save scumming and all kind of cheesy tactics and power gaming to advance is the way to go. On top of that moving around requires camping every few (real life) minutes to rest, but in order to camp you first have to hunt, then camp, then pray no one attacks you while resting and if they do, well just load your latest save, I haven't won a single camp attack, ever. A waste of time and money.

Ok, so I've been playing tabletop RPG's for a VERY long time (40 years to be specific). I'm old enough to have seen both the birth of the computer game, and the internet. So of course I've also been a computer gamer for a very long time as well. I've played most of the classics, and some of the not so classics. I've played the "legendary" ones when they first came out. And over that course of time, I've seen ideas come and go, some great, some not so much. I've watched the genesis of the CRPG, played through the growing pains, and watched it pass into "adulthood" as it were. I say all this so you have a full understanding of where I'm coming from when I tell you this is a great game. Probably the best ever made (so far). And here's why: I'm not going to get into technical aspects. These are things that can be addressed with patches. Are there pathing issues? Sure. Some AI glitches? Of course. Every game has these. (Personally, I'm not a fan of real time combat (even with the ability to pause), as for me, turn based is much more in keeping with tabletop RPG's. However, the developers have done a very credible job with it, so it goes under the "minor nuisance" category for me). (continued in part 2)

graphics -- phenomenal audio -- music to my ears stability and technical performance -- loads fast and plays great on a 4th gen i7, 32 GB RAM (it's 32 bit game so you should only need 8 GB at most), SSD, and a Nvidia 980 ti story line -- creative, surprising, and imaginative written dialogue -- amongst the best I've read in a CRPG RPG / TTRPG depth -- one of the best PnP to CRPG conversions I've seen combat -- speedy enough, good PC AI, good pause system to micro when needed non-combat options -- have never seen so many world impacts from your choices, great alignment options PC's -- great dialogue and interaction options kingdom building options -- well executed and first of their kind in any computer game This is going to go down as one of the all time great CRPGs. The only reason not to get temporarily it is if you're studying for mid terms, etc, it's as addictive as all get out. If you're on the fence about it (like I was, wanted to wait for some reviews before I purchased), don't be -- jump on in, the RPG tide feels just great! :)

Railroading is fine if you don't force your players to solve a nearly impossible puzzle right at the start. Get your youtube walkthroughs ready boys and girls! Though.....those will only help so much with this game..

This is what you will want to do with this game, when youve got 15th stuck in a row in a hour or two of gameplay. Im sick of this garbage.
