Politics aside, and it should be here, I agree with the compliments not complaints, regarding this game in the series: Parkan II compares to Freelancer, the X-series and others I love; even better that it is an adult pilot, not a cadet. lol. I had no idea,.. and I did see this for retail back in the day, but never played until I bought it here -- well, actually after a bit of try before I buy, from another site where I subscribe occasionally. lol... Some YouTube vids first sold me, as the graphics reminded me so much of 'Unreal 2': I do not know what the engine is, but is one of the best looking games of the time for immersion. For play, like some Others mentioned, it's a 'great' space sim! Especially for any who may like a cross of Freelancer and 'X', it plays like those; and I had no hitch on Windows 10. There IS one weird resolution issue addressed at pcgamingwiki, to set this from the start application in the root directory, and works fine; but the game started right up before this at it's default 800x600 resolution... And my mouse had no issues; the game runs so smooth it puts some newer ones to shame. Finally, I give it four stars only because I just began playing, or I would give it five; but I already beat 3 pirates, landed on a planet and am having FUN: Another reviewer I read somewhere said this is also an easier simulator to learn and control for beginners; I am not a beginner, but 'I' like them easy to control too. Lol. It also reminds me of good things like this about No Man's Sky someone may have mentioned here: If this all sounds like something You are looking for, GET THIS GAME!

I played this game when it was first released. In fact it was the first ever licensed legitimate copy of a game i bought in my life. That was due to a huge article in a game magazine praising the game as a masterpiece. It was all lies. The article was payed for by the publisher. This game has nothing to it. Even the description is lying about the "world simulation". What you will se is an empty world filled with 6 types of npc and the same amount of ships. Each type in their own sector of space. You will repeat the same 5-6 generated missions like "kill ships there", kill every enemy on that planet. Planets are nasically and empty field with one room building in it and a bunch of enemy mobs. The story is non-existent. Literally it doesnt have it. They took the story from the first game (which was pretty good actually) and said main character got teleported to the past events. BAM! Heres your story. Nothing will ever happen till the very end. Stay away from this.

The graphics and UI are okay, and the genre is. That's it. The game is REPETITVE and EMPTY, and very BORING. Nothing happens. Really. I gave this game a fair chance, it didn't convinced me to anything like "You will have a good time soon playing this further on". It gave me the impression that it was not finished; as if some - or better: many - parts were missing and in this state it never should have been permitted to release. If you're interested in space games go on and stay away from this one, unless you like boring, empty, repetitive games. Maybe it is appropriate for kids, because it's colorful and so shallow, I don't know. I owned the CD or DVD, first I wanted to resell it, but then I decided to do any poor clueless buyer a favor and chose my trash bin as the new owner of the game... I wish the developers would have done the same.

I understand that Parkan 2 has received some great reviews, as being a quirky but uniquely awesome game. No matter, I will insist on this one point that is a total deal breaker: the user interface text is drawn in such small text that it is unreadable, certainly at 1920x1080 and even at 1280x720. Ridiculously enough, there is a "Display scale" setting that modifies … brightness! All in all, unless you enjoy squinting to read ridiculously small text or are under 16 years of age and enjoy perfect eyesight, avoid this game.
