Description
Paradigm is a surreal adventure game set in the strange and post apocalyptic Eastern European country of Krusz.

Play as the handsome mutant, Paradigm, who's past comes back to haunt him in the form of a genetically engineered sloth that vomits candy.

Paradigm’s unfortunate life begins at DUPA genetics, a company who sells prodigy children to the rich and powerful who don’t want to leave their inheritance to their poor excuse for biological children.

Something went wrong during Paradigm’s growing process and he was left horribly mutated. To save their reputation, DUPA dumped the hideous infant in a nearby post Neo-Soviet abandoned town, forcing him to fend for himself.

Paradigm didn’t let this get him down and found solace in music. He dreams of becoming the best electronic music artist the world has ever seen! Unfortunately his past is set to catch up with him and he must reluctantly step up as the world’s saviour. When really he just wants to finish his latest EP.

On his journey, Paradigm meets an array of strange characters. Some include: a psychopathic superhero, an evil sloth, a secretary knight , and a glam metal cult leader pug.
  • Classic point and click adventure: Think Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Space quest, Full Throttle.
  • Surreal 2D Graphics: Pixar meets Fallout
  • Post apocalyptic: The year is 2026, dial-up is back in fashion.
  • 70/80’s influences: Paradigm's world is what people from that era imagined it to be; large super computers, space age furniture and floppy disks that can save the world.
  • Mature content and dark humour: Help the local drug addict and have a hot date with a toaster.
  • Ugliest protagonist in gaming (maybe): Look at him, Jesus.
  • Evil sloth antagonist: Who is a genetically engineered living candy machine.
  • Glam metal cult: May your pants be tight and your excess be excessive.

Lovely

Take this 5 stars as "I really really liked it". Paradigm reminds me of those times where I played a game that I did not know from anywhere and it turned out to be a pretty brilliant adventure. Jacob Janerka knows about adventure game design, he knows how to write, he knows how to make fun of things, he knows how to make fun of himself. Paradigm is never too difficult and that is not a bad thing (though some clues are not as conveniently repeated as others), and Paradigm hits everywhere with its humor, so when you are not laughing out hard you are at least in awe of the level of madness behind it. I loved it. It's beautiful to see, beautiful to hear and a pleasure to play. I hope to see more games from Jacob.

Brilliant voice acting and direction

I haven't laughed this much playing an adventure game since Sam and Max lost their groove (I can't remember whether I left them in the tombs or just thereafter). This is as much due to the delivery as to the writing; there is excellent voice acting, direction, and editing throughout. Sometimes you can see the dark reality of our world reflected in the game, but hey, it's a POST-apocalyptic world, right? Of course, the whole game is funnier if you've put off working on a personal project to play video games for weeks or years. At least, this is true for me. YMMV; in fact you'll probably not find the game funny at all if this applies to you and you're in denial about it. :D The puzzles require you to pay attention and think, but aren't so hard that I ever needed a walkthrough (although one is built into the game if it comes to that). Sometimes the solution seemed obvious, but then I realize I've spent an hour exploring every corner of the room--of course I know the answer, right? Honestly, 99% of "wicked hard" adventure game difficulty is either because the thing you need to click on was hidden or the clues deliberately led you away from the right answer. If you finished it in less than 10 hours, you clearly didn't spend time poking into the corners. Paradigm's sadness hits a little close to home, and I was inspired to help him succeed. The music is excellent from beginning to end. I'm going to go check the developer commentary now. Buy the game already.

Brilliant, funny and beautiful

This game is hilarious, aesthetically pleasing and very nostalgic for us folks from the eastern soviet block. The main protagonist is a well developed character that you will immediately bond with thanks to his honest and brilliant commentary on the surrounding world. The music is also great. I cried laughing during this game and started missing this world the moment the gameplay ended. 10/10, buy and enjoy!

ENGAGE POSITIVE REVIEW FACE

I haven't played a game with this much off-the-wall, bizarre, amazing humor since the Monkey Island series. Jacob Janerka is a sick, twisted, brilliant genius. And the soundtrack has some phat beatsies too. Buy this game.
