Congratulations. The October labor lottery is complete. Your name was pulled.
For immediate placement, report to the The Ministry of Admission at Grestin Border Checkpoint. An apartment will be provided for you and your family in East Grestin. Expect a Class-8 dwelling. Glory to Arstotzka.
The communist state of Arstotzka has just ended a 6-year war with neighboring Kolechia and reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin. Your job as immigration inspector is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia. Among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists. Using only the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission's primitive inspect, search, and fingerprint systems you must decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.
Immerse yourself in a fictional world of spies, criminals, terrorists, secret societies, government agents and more.
Unique document-inspection gameplay with escalating challenges.
Decide the fate of countless hopeful immigrants while balancing your income and family needs.
The drab CGA-like graphics compliment the drab 1980s East Bloc setting of this great puzzle game. The premise of checking passports is simple, but the execution has much depth. It is definitely worth the money.
Papers, Please is a gem. Once you get passed the relatively simple mechanics of the game, you're faced with a suprisingly deep game, which will raise fundamental questions regarding governments and simple human behavior. This game will test your cognitive skills as well as your empathy towards your virtual family and the people you meet throughout the game.
I can't wait to see what's next in the mind of its developper. In the mean time, if you're into indi games and/or games that'll ask for a little bit more than reflexes, Papers, Please is a must-have.
I had reasonable hopes for this game, it seemed fun enough, and the ratings were good. I managed to get it on sale over at Humble, and to be honest, I would have paid full price now I Have played it. What starts out as reasonably easy, check a few details, grant or deny access, soon turns into a deep and complex game of spotting the slightest discrepancies and being embroiled in politics. It does become slightly tedious when you miss the smallest mistakes, and punishment is harsh. But, buy it. Well worth the time and money invested into playing.

Would you tell a friend about the game the chance said friend will stare at you with round eyes is very high. However, video games can turn everything interesting if done right, even the most unexpected subject. So here we are, playing an immigration officer and head of a family; for a month, you’ll deal with the paperwork, immigrants, criminals, soldiers and a secret organization, having to keep enough money for yourself and your family; all that sitting on your chair in a little box. How can such a game be entertaining ? Let’s see it together.
Gameplay : Your main aim will be to check out whether or not the papers are in orders and act accordingly. Remember all the games which quickly turn boring once all game mechanics were taught ? Well, this game avoids that trap: it adds new GMs and changes the rules on a regular basis, making it hard to be bored. However, keep in mind it also leads that some GMs will disappear after some time and you won’t always be warned about it ; I assume to avoid overflow as each day is timed.
Soundtrack and sound design : 4 songs, in total 6 minutes ; that’s the soundtrack of the game and you won’t hear them most of the time (not during the work hours). However, the sound design is well done : background noises : wind and traffic, combined with the sounds of your material for your work and some other minimalistic sound effects, and that’s all. And yet, it works, you don’t feel the absence of the songs, too concentrated on your task and we could even assume it could be distracting if it was there.
Story + Characters : Let’s be straight, the characters don’t have a personality, at best a few of them have basic traits. And if some reviewers will tell you the story is deep, I can only disagree with it. [incomplete....continued in the file provided]
游戏很有意思,玩了一段时间会有代入感,很棒, 很精彩,如果要是能有中文就更好了。
The game is very interesting, playing for a period of time will have a sense of substitution, great, very exciting, if you can have Chinese is better.
