Description
P.A.M.E.L.A. is an intense open-world survival horror game set in Eden, a fallen Utopian city.

Play as a Sleeper, awoken from cryosleep in Eden, a fallen utopia wrought with death and danger. Utilize a wide range of hi-tech weapons, equipment, and build-able items that can be upgraded to suit your needs. Meet PAMELA, an omnipresent AI overseer who is left alone watching over the once-vibrant city, now reduced to a silent monolith gliding across the ocean.

Key Features

  • Friends and Foes
Survive against multiple NPC factions, including the Afflicted citizens, security droids, robotic custodians, and more mysterious denizens hidden within Eden's depths. Each faction exhibits its own unique behaviors and alliances which can be manipulated to turn the tide of combat.

  • Scavenge to Survive
Experience tense gameplay in a richly developed sci-fi universe. Each decision is meaningful, and each encounter could be your last. Wield and customize an array of modular equipment to defend yourself and explore the environment. Utilize an immersive UI and full body awareness, which removes all boundaries between the player and the horrors of Eden.

  • Enhance Yourself to Thrive
Manage the power reserves of the city, using energy only when necessary to avoid the dangers of being stranded in the dark. Upgrade your weaponry, and construct a safe haven to defend against the denizens of Eden. Enhancing your body with Bio-Augments will give you an advantage over your enemies, but at what cost?

  • Uncover the Truth
Uncover the tragic events that lead to the downfall of a civilization, and fight for your life as the broken citizens of Eden defend their home against your intrusion. With a personality-driven AI system, no encounter will be the same as the Afflicted react in unpredictable ways, driven by their excruciating pain and disfiguring disease.

Very Janky

Just submitted refund. Game appears to be okay, but there are so many issues with the game that it is unplayable, at least for me. The screen tearing and lag is unbearable, massive strain on the eyes and actually makes me nauseated. No matter what options I use on my system, it will not make the game run smooth, will not change how resource intensive this game is on my system. I am sure it is a good game, but it is not optimized well, to the point I cannot begin to even enjoy it :(

an eating and drinking simulator

90% of the time your starving or dying of thirst. Graphics are nice and the story is believable. In game performance was nominal on better than recommended system requirements. Weapons are very weak and so are your melee attacks (at least in the beginning). I cant get past the starving and dying all the time, as this ruined the game for me before I could really get into the later story progression.

Good Game, needs some work

My son got this game on steam, the darkness and enemies made him too uneasy to make it very far. When I started playing it I decided to see if GOG had it since I feel more comfortable here. The first 2 times I have started a game I got the same weapon in the same spot and assumed it was not rng but the third time ( current game) I did not and after countless hours still have not found a projectile weapon, I'm not complaining I am doing just fine. My son restarted and found a lazer weapon before the first enemy appears. So there's high variability in loot spawning. I am a cautious player, slow, strategic, willing to grind for loot/lux/and tech and that helps. I have a well defended base in the gene lab and materials for high end equipment is hard to find making advanced bases a grind to set up. But that is part if the fun for me. Some things I think need work: 1. Exiting certain windows, such as hydroponics units are inconsistent with exiting other windows and could use some uniformity to clean up UI. Not too big of a deal. But if tab gets me out of one thing and not another I hit it by default and then it doesn't work how I expect. 2. Improved pathing for the AI especially the seekers. I see seekers walking into walls all the time and into doors that can't open and getting into places they shouldn't. Its a bit of a trope for video game characters but yeah needs work. Its a common problem in most games but doesn't have to be I know of 20yo games that have solved this. 3. I tried to fortify the Arcadia elevator with a gate, a turret, and a power transmitter. It worked i was able to make a fort to retreat to, however the idea was to use the elevator to go floor to floor protected and when I went to floor 2, the base stayed on floor 1. This is the biggest glitch I have found. Not game breaking but annoying. Luckily when returning to floor 1 my base rose out of the floor intact. This bug should be fixed In short this is not doom, its not a run and gun game.

Amazing game, but...

First and foremost, this is one of the greatest games in my library and one of the few I always keep installed. It's endlessly replayable, highly immersive and lets you play on your own tempo. It feels genuinely rewarding to improve your equipment and when you're in a pickle, the game keeps you on your toes with its atmosphere and enemy variety. That said, it's very janky. Made by a small indie studio, the game feels rushed at times. Nothing to the point of breaking the game; it's very much playable and a lot of fun from start to finish, but only if you have a stomach for jankyness.

A Diamon in the Rough

I bought this game on screenshots alone. When I went into it for the first time, I was disappointed: It was clunky, buggy and hard in an unpleasant way. All these things are true. However I reinstalled it and followed the advice to turn the combat difficulty way down. Amazingly, the game was still not easy. I managed to beat it without dying, because death sucks so much in PAMELA - but that was rather challenging. I just took no risks. Considering it, that‘s probably the way that a survival game should be played. I found a lot of enjoyment in exploring the magnificient futuristic city. While the graphics are certainly not top quality the design is. The layout of everything seems to make sense more in real life than in a game. I wouldn‘t be suprised if the designers planned the city first and built the game around it. That would also explain the lazily blocked off passages. The story is nothing to write home about, but I came to like the way it its told by the AI. I first thought the voice acting is bad, but after listening to her for a while I rather think she‘s doing very well. The way she conveys emotions without emotion in her voice is very fitting. It‘s a sentinet computer program with no real way to express the emotions it is programmed with. Combat is clunky and difficult, but that makes the upgrade and leveling system really shine. There are only a few weapons, armor types and shields, but everything can be upgraded. If you don‘t want to spend an eternity in the game, you‘ll have to concentrate on one set of equipment. Base building is basic, and never really explained. My recommendation is not to use the security features offered. If you need them, you built in the wrong place. All in all, I really fell in love with the game. The mysterious, dark atmosphere in contrast with the light and creative world drew me in. That the game flawed made it somehow even better. It felt nostalgic, like mastering an old and difficult to play title.
