Simple mechanics make nice strategy

Just 3 resources (science, money, food), combined with different kinds of land + power + bonus tasks + simple rules for flagging, military and costs. That's enough to create an intersting strategy game. Great game to enjoy half an hour and continue later, again and again... The free demo is nearly complete, full version adds different maps and allows to "fight to the end".

Very enjoyabe and well designed

Fun, relatively quick strategy puzzle. All features are well designed - clear interface, good AI, interesting strategy choices that evolve during a game and depend on map, chosen civilization, and opponents. Highly recommend.

A decent 20 minute strategy game

Fairly simple rules but a lot of replayability. Plays like a board game without having to do the sums in your head.

Fun and addictive

Fun to play, even with limited game mechanics. The simplicity is part of the fun. On macos, the game does not terminate cleanly.

Simple, fast, & fun Civ game

For those who never got into the Civilization series but still wanted a historical, turn-based game, this is a solid alternative. The tutorial and story campaign quickly get you up to speed, and there are about 10 different maps to play on in single- and multiplayer. There is a lot of similarity between factions, but geography and map position (and some player imagination) make the scenarios feel convincing enough. There are several win conditions that you can set, and you have a lot of choice regarding the objectives that you can pursue. The AI is quite competent, and graphics are simple but effective. This is an easy recommend in the $5-10 range. However, do check out the demo, which convinced me to buy the game.
