Description
Overlord II, sequel to the critically acclaimed cult hit, sees the return of the chaotic Minions and their new Dark Master. Bigger, badder and more beautifully destructive, Overlord 2 has a Glorious Empire to smash, a massive Netherworld to revive, Minion mounts to mobilize, a trio of mistresses to woo, War Machines to crush opposition and lots of cute creatures to, err... murder (and a mini-map).
  • What sort of stuff will I get to kill? Your main source of victims will come from the brave and highly flammable ranks of the Glorious Empire, a sinister regime that gained power after the fall of the previous Overlord. You'll be hacking your way through entire battalions at a time, but to keep the blood on your sword varied we've also thrown a few Yetis, Elves, villagers and annoyingly cute indigenous species into the mix, just to name but a few. Don't say we never do anything for you.
  • I've always wanted to enslave the human race, is this the game for me? You've come to the right place! With the Domination style Overlord humanity, can become your plaything. Village by village, you'll reap the benefits of an unwilling workforce as you drive the Glorious Empire from your lands.
  • I'm more of a "watch the world burn" kind of guy, can I still get my rocks off? We've got your pleasure, sir. With the Destruction style Overlord you can ravage the land like a moody Tsunami; razing cities, forests and Imperial camps to the ground just because they looked at you funny.
  • What can my minions do? Minions are angry little Swiss army knives of pain: They can ride into battle on wolves and other magical creatures, loot the best weapons from stomped enemies, pillage houses for treasure, operate fearsome war machines, infiltrate enemy camps and polish your armour so thoroughly you'll blind passing wildlife.
  • What types of Minions can I rule? This new batch of minions is smarter, faster, deadlier and wittier than the sorry sacks of skin you used to rule. Minions now come in four fantastic flavours: Browns are brutal brawlers that solve their problems with teeth and fists. Reds are the surly artillery who love to play catch, as long as it's with fireballs. Greens are the stealthy assassins. Silent and deadly, like a fart on legs. Blues are no use in a fight but can resurrect fellow Minions who've tried to stop a sword with their face.

Better than #1 In (Almost) Every Way

I loved the first Overlord and remember playing the Second when I was like 12 years old. I bought both on Steam back in high school but after getting into GOG's DRM free model of play, I was sad that the second game wasn't on here. Now finally it has arrrived! In terms of living up to the original, this game improves on its predecessor in almost every way. Gameplay is better, AI is more responsive, battles are more fun with the Roman-esque Empire you have to fight against. Your lair is more expansive and alive than the originals castle and it is more challenging in general (PLUS MORE MISTRESSES! <3) Only downside? Aside from how long it took to get to GOG, the story I think is not as good. The premise is fun and interesting but in my opinion, the first one had more mystery and beautiful fantasy. Lets put it this way, the first game felt like being a wannabe Sauron in a Lord of the Rings-esque universe where you fight elves, dwarves, nature, men, halfings, etc. The second game feels more like Warhammer if you were a wannabe Chaos Lord fighting the Human Empire. Sure there are elves and dwarves mixed in it but the primary focus is on the Empire. But again, this downside is more subjective and just something I felt between both games Overall, great game, great sequel, great that it finally has gotten released on GOG!

Overlord 2...or 1 ?

loved the concept of the first 2 games..... Positives of Overlord 2. 1It retains the core game play that was the fundation of the first game. 2the addition of minion 'sprawles' with a reaper servant leeting you resurect those lvl 10 minions that you spent the last 2 houers looting armor & weapons from fights with etc is a very neat addition. 3It got delicious ambiance & music Negatives of OVerlord 2. 1The gear customisation mechanics of the first game is replaced by a 'ladder' progresion of preset gear you can buy/make in your armory. 2Your spells is far lees a versetile edge for your overlord and more a 'utility' tool for your minions and your minions only..no minions to spare = extremly limited use of your spells aka no classic fireballs here. 3compared to the first game..the 'window' to explore the game world once you 'found' the last minion type to circomvent all kinds of enviroment hinders is very..very..short. so all in all , a garantie to be a joy t oplay ,it only lost 1 star on my part due to how the extremly customisation inviting mechanics for your gear and more 'diverse' spell choises in the first game not could be found in this one.

Wonderfull game to play and funny

One of my favorite games; btw, both of them :) There is not much to say then just good follow up of the first one and yes, it is a real nice feature to have three mistresses hehehehe It is a shame the makers did not go on with this formula and created a third in this way how they made the first two. More I realy cannot add, most reviews here describe how good this game is :)

Two words, Spider Temple

I have lots of fun with Overlord II but unable to give it more than 3 stars and that's because the Spider Temple level. Up until that point, the bad camera and control during minions sweeping is annoying but manageable, it become pure frustration there. It's just about halfway through the game and likely make you rage quit.

Good Old Game

I love it. It captures the spirit of the 2000s - of developers still doing something fun and interesting. It's simple fun and I love it. The game can be a bit harsh and stingy at times with the autosaves, but it doesn't matter too much, because the game has soul. The graphics are not photorealistic - but neither you'd want them to be. Maybe it's just me, but I love this style. Gameplay loop gets a bit tedious on one hand, but on the other playing around with minions and the game throwing in small puzzles to solve makes up for it. I would still take it over an uninteresting ability tree anyday. Story is simple and it's perfect. Lately I've been very tired with newer games - they try to be incredibly distinct, with a lot of twists and God forbid the game does something funny - everything has to be serious. This game is not like that, everything is funny. Some of the jokes are extra corny - which I love. Overall, the feeling of the game is unlike anything new. Highly recommend, though important note: controls are awful.
