Sadly lacks cross-platform co-op

I enjoyed this game at first through the couch co-op multiplayer mode, using Parsec. It is a very fun party game. I found out a few months later, however, when my friends got their own versions of the game on Epic, that it is impossible to play with them in the on-line multiplayer mode. Turns out that you can only play this game's on-line multiplayer with other GOG Galaxy players. This is the first time I regret buying the GOG version of a game.

The original is better

The game looks more detailed then the original, but the original is just plain better. There is more detail in the graphics, but because of this the designers decided things don't have to be as distinct, so it's actually harder to tell what everything is. The level selection screen, again looks better, but it's not as good as the original. To add a player, or change chef, you now have to go back to the main screen, instead of being able to do it when choosing a level. The start system doesn't seem to be as balanced as previously either. I'm halfway through world 2, and so far if you don't do well, you either fail or just get one star. If you do a bit better, you smash 3 stars easily. The levels also don't seem quite as frenetic as the original. The game is still fun, but if you haven't posted the first one, I'd recommend it over this.

Worse than the original

I completely agree with maglor_83's review. The game looks nicer at first glance, but at times it is very unreadable. Not sure what lies where, whether it's sliced, cooked, etc, the labels obscure what lies beyond - nothing is clear. The control is even worse than it was. I play using the keyboard - I don't know who invented menu navigation here. The map is a disaster (sometimes you don't know where the next level is). On the board itself - you can place, throw, cut things in a not very controlled way (e.g. the same key for throwing and cutting - you don't know what the program will choose, you don't know if you'll drop the thing you're holding or if you'll have to try several times). With all these annoying difficulties the game is much easier than the original, maybe 3-4 times we had to repeat the level to have ***. In a word, everything seems to look nicer, more varied, but the real progress is not there, on the contrary.

No online multiplayer, or cross-platform

The game itself is great (gameplay, graphics, music, style, etc), but in this gog version you get no multiplayer outside of gog galaxy, which means you cannot play online at all without gog galaxy (which does not exist on linux), and with it you are limited to other gog galaxy players. The steam version is also native on OSX and Linux, whereas here we only have the windows version.

Best couch co-op out there

Bought this game for my wife and she loves it through and through. It's a perfect little fun game that has something for everyone, and replayability is absolute, from the first kitchen to the last one. It's cute, it's silly, runs great even on older hardware and there is nothing in it to offend anyone. I run it on Linux with Wine and DXVK. It runs flawlessly, there is no manual configuration, it's just fires up and supports hot-plugging up to 4 gamepads. I connect mine to an old USB 2 HUB on a 5 meter USB extention cord that runs to my couch and the game simply chugs away, no incompatibility, hot plugging works. It's perfect. Would give 5 stars if not for the campaign being a bit short and there being a lot of DLCs. There is also no modding option so the community can't add new kitchens. Lame. I don't like DLCs, so the game gets 4 stars.
