A few small spoilers of game's mechanics

Fun game with a nice atmosphere and high replay value. A bit too random at times, at least for me. And many small things sometimes ruining the experience or just being slightly annoying. I would want to give it a four but there are many small and a few big annoyances that stops me. Example of a small one: Some of the menu systems are annoying. Especially when drilling, extracting gas or receiving stuff from events. Lets say your ship is full. Usually that's not a problem. You can just choose something to discard and make space for the new item. If you get free stuff from a random event or alien encounter however, you're not given the option. This forces you to either play with empty slots in a game that's very unforgiving, or not get any items. You also can't use items while the popup menu with new items appear. Impossible to use some of the oxygen to refill the tanks before discarding the rest. You could enter another menu to refill, but as soon as you close the menu the new stuff is in, all of it disappears. Example of a big one: Sometimes you are warped to a random location. Usually it is because you are swallowed by a worm hole, interact with some aliens or alien artifacts or have to escape a dangerous situation by warping. This is fun and makes the gameplay a lot more unpredictable. Bad thing is that a few times I have been warped to places from which it's not possible to progress. Unless you have gathered the right kind of specific technology that allows you to travel in such areas, it's the same as dying, just more annoying as it just feels like something the developers didn't intend to happen. Even if your ship is great and you have plenty of resources, you may lack some necessary equipment for such areas.

Best played in crushing solitude.

This game gave me the FEEL that I will not forget. And that's saying something for a game that doesn't have a childhood-nostalgia value. It shows its brilliance by managing to immerse the player through quite simple game mechanics coupled with simple but superb presentation. Risk management is the name of the game. You will die and that is expected. But it will all come together once you achieve one of the greater endings. PS I don't own it on GOG, but I payed a bunch of this on android.

I tried so hard and got so far

The game is worth the attention of those who want to feel that space travel is not easy and it is always a risk. You can only win by moving forward, but survival is not guaranteed. The mechanics of the game keep you in suspense - and by the middle of the game - the ship is not so weak, but the risk remains - it hurts to lose: "I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter, I had to fall to lose it all". Feels like in Linkin Park lyrics, but there is no music - just space which just kiled you. Game has high replayability and several endings. Game music is also good. Game mechanics is maybe simple, but scarcity of resources make it hardcore and you need sometimes go for risk, or go back to refuel your ship. Some tips to win: 1. Fuel is your most important asset - jump to unknown only with several He/H stacks in your cargo bay 2. Fuel efficiency is the most valuable technology to obtain and upgrade ASAP 3. Fe - is must have resource used for repair (sh*t happens every time in space).

Fiendishly addicting

For such a simple format, the game has kept me playing for long periods. You are certain you have a good understanding and adequate plan and....%*&%$....out of fuel or oxygen. It is highly variable and challenging. My two wins gave me more satisfaction than dozens of high end and more intricate games. It is a great way to unwind without the high frustration level of other games. You launch, you try, you lose..Nuts!..then you start over without even blinking confident that THIS time you have it figured out. Great times!
