A nostalgic visual novel where you design your own character and grow from childhood to adulthood with the lonely boy next door. Create an experience that’s all your own in this near-fully customizable, choice-heavy story.
Our Life: Beginnings & Always is a feel-good simulation, as well as a “feel-better” one, where painful emotions such as sadness, anger, stress, and worry can all be expressed, then met with reassurance, understanding, and support.
It’s a wholesome experience that faces large steppingstones of life, while having a focus on familiar everyday moments. With notable amounts of customization for even tiny details, you can enjoy pleasures as simple as having a preferred type of drink and a neighbor who cares enough to remember what it is.
4 different periods of life to experience: childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, and fully grown
Name, appearance, personality, and pronoun (he, she, or they) customization for your character
Change your character's details however you like as you grow, including transitioning to new pronouns

1 love interest, Cove Holden, whose personality, interests, and appearance will develop in a custom way over the years based on his experiences with you
Decide for yourself how quickly or slowly the relationship with Cove develops by setting a unique dynamic; from love at first sight to last minute confessions to always being friends and more
A welcoming, sentimental story that can easily be enjoyed over and over using new main character qualities or different connection types with Cove

Jamie Last (changeable name) has spent the last couple weeks on a summertime high. At eight-years-old, nothing is better than what feels like endless days of school-less adventures, especially when you live walking distance from the beach. While coming home under a scorching sunset one fine evening, Jamie is approached by a stranger. The man is looking for a kid who can do him a favor, and he’s even offering to pay for it. He wants Jamie to please be friends with his only child. The person is Mr. Holden, Jamie’s new neighbor, as well as the father of the odd, and oddly named boy, Cove. Whether Jamie wants to play along or not, Cove isn’t going anywhere. He's present in Jamie's life for far longer than they ever would've guessed.
And then the long days of vacation finally come to an end. Summer may not be able to last forever, but Jamie can take comfort in knowing it will come back again someday…

A very sweet, pleasantly Q___r* game, with just enough roleplaying-aspects to keep me satisfied. It's slow at first, with the best parts being the middle-two Steps, but it's worth it (so long as you're taking breaks). The final Step kinda overstays it's welcome, and the final days of all Steps are deceptive about how long they are. The writing is good enough that this isn't an annoyance, but Stars, it nearly was. I'll likely revisit this game after buying some DLCs.
*Thanks for censoring the minority I'm a part of, but not the rampant bigotry in the reviews, GoG
"It is literally a groomer type "MAPs are okay" game."
- Please, show me, one refernce in game where an adult is having a sexually-themed conversation with an underaged kid.
- Show me one "MAP" adult that we feel positive toward to, while knowing he's a Minor Atracted Person.
"It is made to apeal to groomers and children."
- No, MAP is a Minor Attracted Person, an adult that is attracted to a minor, the title shows no such images, it shows you a child that may be atracted to another child in a more or less childish way.
You do not play as an adult in game, and a MAP person would not find out this game interesting in pedophile way, as you imagine it.
"It is simply a gay digital version of the movie "Cuties". "
- No, the movie "Cuties" was mixing a show-busines, almost porn industry with an underaged children, this title is showing a very normal topics, that some people might have missed, because they were rised by parents like you.
" Anyone who gave this game 5 stars needs to stay away from children."
- Anyone who gave this game 5 stars, was looking for things they have missed, due to living with a parent like you, some bounds or connections they have missed, because their drunk catholic daddy beat them for not being heterosexual, so it's more like feeding nostalgia and missed chances, than what your miniscule mind created.
". Anyone with this game in their library should be investigated by law enforcement."
- Anyone with this title in the library, should be more happy, as they lost something and look in this title as a nostalgia.
You need to learn how to drive a car and do some test to pass, to simply drive a car, but to make another human being, you just need some alcohol and people like you to make it, and everyone is happy... resulting in simple beings like you, stating there opinions. :) prove more wrong, debate?
PS.
I am not gonna defend any pedophile, but you're making an accusations toward me as well, so I'm gonna talk back.
I just played an hour or so, still in child state... but it s best choice build game I ever played. And I m VN games player for looong time. Its amazing how complex it is, how every choice has an effect on everything you do in present time, not long term. Smallest things matter. Really, every single choice has an effect on how story will go in nearest future. I'm so freaking impresed. Like WOW.
I love my parents here! Even if I was little surprised on the beggining.
I can't even imagine how many possible flags was used here. I have a feeling like every single possibility was taken and used
Buy DLS's. Moments are so worth it. Everything you were search in VN games is here. Really.
Please do not stop making games developers, you re great at it. My heart is so warm and satisfied. thank you.
First off I'd like to add that the base game is free, and at the time of this review, the review rating on Steam™ is OVERWHELMINGLY postitive (98% overall) which makes the 3.2 out of 5 here seem, well, inaccurate.
If you like GN type games, I think you will like this. You can play as either a girl or boy, and there is some customization which affects the outcome of the story. The game is free so you aren't out anything. If you start playing it and really like the story, then I really recommend buying all the DLC which isn't that much. The DLC adds so much to the story/stages that I feel it is worth it to really enhance the initial play through. If you play though the base game once and love it, you can always get the DLC and do another play through, but it won't be the same as experiencing the story brand new with the DLC. That is what I did, and I'm TOTALLY not regretting it at all.
If this story isn't your cup of tea, you are out nothing.
So it's free. Give it a try. What are you wating for?
