Beautiful little adventure.

I will be brief and just list up some thoughts about this game. Also, because this game has just been released, I will not include any real spoilers. Pros: - Beautiful graphics. - Great background music. (Which is something I normally don't pay much attention to.) - Easy to control game mechanics. - Logic puzzles that could be solved by using common sense. (I was only stuck once, and not for long.) - No dead ends. - No endless walking back and forth. - No long, boring cutscenes. - A wonderful old-school adventure game feeling throughout the game. Lovely nostalgia. Cons: - Way too short! - Some information recieved along the way turns out not to be fully accurate. - And, like many adventure games I must say, not a truly satisfying ending. All in all, a really nice game, especially considering the price, but I must admit I was a little bit dissapointed when I realized I completed it this fast. I will probably go back and check out all the achievements, which might ad som extra gameplay. If you, like me, love old school adventures, don't hesitate to buy this title. Despite a few negative remarks in this review, I really had a great time plaing it. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Nostalgia

Playing this game was like going back in time to the good old King's Quest days. I very much enjoyed it. The graphics are beautiful and the controls easy much like King's Quest 6. It's important to listen to everything that is said to you. I did get stuck twice, the first time because I wasn't paying attention to what was said. This is the kind of game you can play alone or with your kids. It's not a very long game but as it's not an expensive game I think the length and price matches. The ending is a cliffhanger and I am looking forward to the next chapter of the story. I recommend this game to Sierra and point and click adventure fans.

Sweet, enjoyable and short.

This game retains a lot of the innocence of the old king's quest titles, but also the simplicity. It feels refreshing to play a game that is just unironically nice, and is full of good vibes. The puzzles are a bit so-so though, and the game is about as short as one of the early quest games, but that does not get in the way of me enjoying this. Also, this is a game i really want to recommend to parents who wants to play a game together with their (little older) kids. I know that this is a game i would have eaten up in the age of 8-12.

Expected more

This game is pleasant but way too short. What I really disliked is that there are some scenes that are unlocked only by having certain items combined in your inventory, else you can walk around forever and try to interact with everything possible and nothing will ever happen. And that walking around gets boring really fast, why do I have that map.

3 1/2 stars. Not worth full price.

Order of the Thorne: The King's Challenge is a decent little retro game that gets old very quick. At first the game was quite pleasent with a decent story and good atmosphere. unfortunatly that quickly went away. This game might as well be renamed "Fetch Quest: The King's Challenge, as you quickly find yourself running back and forth through the same screens, on the same routes, with barely anything interesting on them besides rocks, trees, and other items with little to no flavor text. The items you do need to finish the game hardly pop out at you and are sometimes in weird places that goes along with the strange convoluted direction of the game. This game could have been much better with just a little more polish and attention to detail especially towards the back half of the game. The game also does a lot of good things, there were some fun, funny and downright enjoyable moments. The soundtrack is very well done and the song mechanism is enjoyable (although quite underused). The graphics were nostalgic and done quite well, especially the character sprites (not so much some of the backgrounds). In conclusion, as far as point and click adventures go, it's sort of in the middle range. Interesting story but subpar gameplay with not really any puzzles besides "where do I get this thing, who do I take it to, what do I use it on" running back and forth through, maybe, 18 different screens that don't really do a great job of showing which way you can go. Started off with a bang, ended up flat. Decent game, I'll expect more from the sequel or I won't even bother.
