OCD Lovers delight.
Imagine a game with hidden rules. Rules that dictate the game is to be played a specific way, or you lose automatically. Rules that are not explained to the user. Rules that don't make sense at a first or second glance. This is that game. Oh - has has sandbox mode, that's not for me. It has tech tiers. yay? I'm finding it very micromanagy to utilize them. You select 'jobs' for your station to complete.some unlock tech, with no other reward. Some pay funds - used to keep your station in operation. Some advance plot - to ??? some? purpose? And the rub is you need to build big to survive the early game. You need to build very big, to survive the midgame. And that ain't for me. When you don't build big, you fall behind on tech. "So - I need to research 9 technologes, each consuming the output of 3 factories for 200 turns. 300 turns. Oh, wait, this one's for 340 turns. and if I don't, the jobs on offer will all start requiring these techs anyways? Meaning loss is forced. And I need an equal number fo factoris taking up jobs just to keep the station in orbit... As to resources - no stockpiling...other than money. Everything else is a 'use it as you produce it', from 'power' and 'life support' to 'cargo transport' and coolant'. If you don't produce enough of everything, efficiency drops. This can for the 2nd tier tech be a cascaiding problem, where resource producers conusme some T2 products under them in the tech chain. water -> water, power -> power, etc, meaning insufficient supply can have cascading consequences. Pros: - very detail oriented. - You do all-the-theings, and time matters, thus it's not casually playable without pause. Cons: - Very detail oriented. - You do all-the-things... - Lacking some for UI design - There are some bugs. Not-trivial bugs even,, which can impede gameplay, but easily avoided once you learn what they are. - Intended playstyle ??? ... uh, probably play to huge scale early??
