Good but overly buggy

I had a blast playing this game from beginning to end. It's ability driven and xcom style combat was awesome when it worked. However it was still very buggy. It's to the point that a glitch with the machine gun can lead to you possessing negative action points which locks the game. A bad spawn can cost you one of your team in the first turn especially in multi stage battles. This can force you to retry the level until you get a fair chance. The management aspect is a little simplistic in the main story, for me this was a positive though missions where they expect you to rush are best handled by taking your time. Unique weapons are hidden the same way as regular purchaseable weapons, meaning calling in the wrong favour could cost you access to it and you can sometimes beat the level by accident before you can buy it. However it should be noted that the management in the Japanese incentive is genuinely challenging and comes with this version of the product. This game is basically unfinished. Two Dlc maps are devoid of npcs or vehicles and while playable are good examples of what I mean. The developers shipped the game out early and moved before it was ready. The game while beatable has many text errors and some missions cut off earlier than they feel they should with one starting the last battle even when it doesn't make sense and others just popping up with "You win" with nothing to tell you that was the final win condition. After a while missions which give you gang members just add them to your gang immediately, no text to say hi, no pop up message to let you know, they're just there now. It should also be noted that if you bought the base game alone this was unplayable, Gog itself had to fix that issue. This game has too many problems to be rated highly, yet has to lot of good hidden within. If you can get it cheap I recommend you try it, however expect a lot of the problems I mentioned and way more if you do.

Roaring Blunders

I really want to love this game. I really really want to love this game. If you've never played Gangsters or Empire of Sin but you like the idea of running a criminal syndicate then you'll probably enjoy at least part of this. Kalypso made Tropico as well and you can kind of see the similarities in the execution (if I recall there's actually a few funny references to the ever-present llama joke in that series). So it's got a neat sense of humor and doesn't take itself too seriously. It starts off pretty fresh and you can slowly take over neighborhoods by buying/invading certain areas and converting them into illegal ventures while attempting to accomplish certain objectives and special random events. This is the bulk of the game and I'll be honest it's not as fun as it could be. It's repetitive and can occasionally be frustrating but it's not awful. Then there are the special strategy turn-based missions that you can accomplish. And I personally hated them. There's a lot of great turn-based strategy games out there and this is on the low end of the excitement. You can't really customize a lot of your load-out and it's really easy to lose just because you didn't bring the right characters (or even worse, they're on a cool-down and you can't take them.) The combat is clunky and borderline feels rigged. I had a feeling of dread whenever more cops of rival gangsters began filling up the turn-order at the top of the screen. I really wish there was a true sandbox crime game out there set in the 20's - but I don't think this is a good example or step in the right direction. If that's what you're looking for then you'll probably enjoy this title initially. I can't promise you'll finish the game, though.

False Advert - Multiplayer not working

As it seems the multiplayer servers were shut down so currently there is no working multiplayer. Also would not recommend the game for singleplayer only since it gets repetetive really fast and sandbox mode doen't give much replayabillity. There are games that are free or cost less than 1€ that have more content than Omerta.
